UVic Osprey Nest, Sunday July 29th.

I saw one adult and 1 chick in the nest. I took this photo from the side on McKenzie Ave.

I took this photo from the parking lot beside the track. The chick is visible to the right of the adult.

I visited the osprey nest at Pat Bay yesterday. One of the chicks has fledged and was perched on the branch hanging over the driveway. The other chick was in the nest. We were approached by one of the security guards who told us as of July 1st the property is no longer open to the public :( I will have to photograph the osprey from a different vantage point from now on.

Osprey on Marine Way yesterday afternoon. One of the chicks was wingercizing as we approached the nest site but all was quiet for awhile until Dad brought in a fish.

Dad flew to a nearby tree to dry after his fish drop.

We hadn't seen the 2nd chick until it was finished being fed by Mom. It stretched out a wing behind Mom.

Dad had come to the nest with another fish but didn't stay. He flew off with the fish and landed in a nearby tree to eat it while the chicks were screeping.

Pat Bay Osprey: 2 chicks on the nest Aug. 8th. Too dark for a photo :(

Royal Roads Osprey: Aug. 11th. Mom perched on top of the tower; 1 chick squawking in the nest then flew off in the wind. It circled around the area, came back to the nest, then flew off again. I saw it flying over the trees near the Island Hwy. across from Tim Horton's. I drove around to the back of the big development at Colwood Corners and saw the chick in the nest eating. Mom was still perched on the tower.

Not a good photo from the back of the shopping centre; too many hedges & bushes in the way.

Osprey nest on Wain Rd. Sep. 1st. Their nest fell down earlier in the year and it looks like they have built a new one. The nest tree is quite far from the road and the photo has been cropped a lot.

Marina Way Osprey - Sep. 1st.

Just as I arrived one of the youngsters flew off the nest towards the marina and it didn't come back while I was there. I'm sure there were 2 in the nest, one behind the other. They were both calling and calling but neither of the adults came to the nest.

Royal Athletic Park Osprey - Sep. 1st.

There were no Osprey in or around the nest but one of the youngsters was perched on the light standard at the other end of the park, eating some fish. I was able to get some closeups from across the street.

I spent the day today with a fellow birding friend visiting Osprey nests.

One young osprey was in the nest near Royal Roads, calling and calling. Finally an adult bought a small fish into the nest and it didn't take the young one long to devour it. It kept on calling and calling and an adult flew in a second time and brought another small fish then flew off.
