Really, I have a vote...yeah! I love the name Genesis.....

Genesis, a new beginning for Pa Sidney and Missy,
an active, flapping, voracious little one....

With a future hopefully so bright it will shine into
the night and return back again,

Went by Pat Bay Epicure nest yesterday afternoon. Genesis was upright in the nest but looking away to the east. Adult on top of tree north of the nest and another one in the small grove of trees on the farmer's property where they had a nest for a few years.
I could not get a clear photo of either of the 2 adults but neither one looked like Missy :dunno: Could it be Missy was replaced by whoever is Genesis' mother and that would explain a second clutch. ? I am confused.

Confusion keeps us guessing making it kind of fun. It's wonderful there is an eaglet with such a good start.

Yes Kay. I looked at the picture you took and thought that was not Missy. Then yesterday I could have sworn it was Ma back at the nest!!
Could it be? I am truly flummoxed. I am quite sure Pa is still one of the pair but the other one is a mystery. :dunno:

Genesis looks healthy and still quite young. Maybe 8 weeks? I wondered what a late fledge would mean to this year's annual migration. Will they go away but not for quite as long or will they just stay?

I am thinking Missy being so young may have laid a dud and Ma may have come back to take over what is rightly hers? Or there is another new female on board. Yeah, such fun!

Here are the pictures I took yesterday that are less than ideal but.....

Genesis looking away but at least we can see growth since last photos.

And this is the adult next to the nest. I don;t think this is Pa. He was across the road. And I don't think it is Missy because she has a long slim neck. It looks like it could be Ma ? :luck:

Although as you said it would be hard to actually know, it would be lovely if that were Ma who stepped back in, yet, if not, there is a lovely lady who had a chick, Genesis, and that is good.

elle to me that adult doesn't look like our Ma  Fine looking eagle though :thumlft:

ETA: Perhaps our Pa was having a 'mid-life crisis' and thought it would be good for his ego to romance another female ;)

I went to visit the eagles this evening and saw Genesis standing up in the nest as I drove past to park my vehicle down on Towner Park Rd. I spotted an adult perched in one of the trees at the south end of the former Epicure property; I believe it was Pa. After taking several photos from different vantage points I wasn't convinced it was Pa :dunno: I wandered up the road to see if Genesis was still up and the little rascal was down in the nest :( I managed to get a few photos of partial wings but that was it  I'll post some photos later.

Some photos of Pa in the tree at the south end of the former Epicure property last night, taken from different vantage points. The quality isn't good as the sun was setting and glaring on him :(

The snag nest, taken from the south end of the former Epicure property. Genesis was nowhere to be seen :(

These last 2 photos were taken from W. Saanich Rd. Genesis did stretch a wing halfway out the first time.

I caught a nice big dark wing the second time.

Visited Pat Bay/Epicure nest this afternoon. Pa was in the field perch tree overlooking the beach and New Ma was perched in the farmer's field across from the nest. Genesis was upright near the trunk of the nest tree and then got some air , jumping with both feet above the nest. Later after a food delivery she was self feeding on the other side of the nest.
She has not fledged yet as she is a very late likely second clutch and hatch from a second mating with yet a new female.
Genesis looked healthy and active.
I will be back tomorrow with pix and videos.
