Re: Dale Hollow - 2017/2018
I just wanted to bring the day forward.
First and foremost, the offical statement from DHEC regarding the unfortunate loss of DH4:
I’m sorry to report we have lost one of our eaglets. We wish for all to go well day to day in the wild with 2 healthy chicks, but we cannot hand out guarantees. Odd things happen. The video has been reviewed and most likely healthy DH4 was in the wrong place at the wrong time, caught a talon from a parent, and the rest is history. Young hatchlings face many obstacles, but don't be sad, celebrate what you get to enjoy. We are moving on here and excited about the events to come. Please join us on this journey.
We will never know what truly happened. She could have been sick and we just didn't know it. Yesterday, DH4 and DH5 were able to spend a while alone in the nest and observing their surroundings. I leave you with this video of them both and hope you remember DH4 this way: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8nqm0Ja3teE
And then, Obey kicking butt today and protecting his nest from an intruder...video thanks to MsO:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G_J4tRCgx80
I'm sorry to everyone who watches here but I know DH3 was there to greet her younger sibling DH4 And DH5 is a feisty little thing and I can't wait to watch him grow and thrive!
Philjo, I know this will be tough when you check in so an extra big hug for you
Good night Bev, Philjo, Marianne, Dino, and all other who check in here...tomorrow is a new day and I will see y'all then
I'd also like to invite everyone to our cam with chat. We would love to have you there. We are one big family and someone is on 24 hours to talk if needed: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vudMZ3oQVbg

Marianne, I have been reading back for the past 2 days and wanted to respond to your post again. I just wanted you to know that I made a mistake yesterday. There was an afternoon feeding and I said it was DH4 but in fact, it was DH5. I think without knowing, we all assume the first fed is the oldest, but looking back through my scaps, it was indeed DH5 being fed yesterday afternoon. I just noticed my mistake and wanted to bring it forward so you know you aren't alone! I watch this nest for several hours on end every day and still get it wrong sometimes.Kitcat11848 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 07, 2018 2:25 pmOh Stephanie, I so hate to read that little DH 4 has passed on. This nest was just beginning to resume some normalcy. Prayers and hugs to you, Bev, Philjo and and all who watch this nest. I really feel bad now that I said it was DH4 getting fed this morning. I know h/s is soaring high with DH3, B11 and all others before them. RIP sweet one.

That’s ok Stephanie. I’m new at identifying all these eagles amd babies that I just assume and don’t really look that hard. As you said, it happens to all of us. Hugs to you and thanks for responding back.

My last pic from yesterday
Sorry, today i DH4
Just a thing i noticed yesterday, when River, i think, was brooding as they used to come on the nest normally they "shimme" a little bit at the beginning to be perfect on the eggs or the kids, but for her i noticed she shimmed many times during the same session of her brooding as she seemed uncomfortable, normal or not ?Sorry, today i DH4
