Welcome to the Willis Point Eagles thread for the 2018 season. This is an established nest that I viewed for the first time yesterday and the only info I have is that it was built after the eagles' previous nest tree blow down. It is in the Willis Point area of North Saanich, BC. I have opened this new dedicated thread for this nest as I will be passing by the area when visiting other nests on the Saanich Peninsula. There are 2 healthy looking eaglets in the nest and I am hoping they thrive and grow and fledge successfully at the end of the season. Please feel welcome to post observations, photos and videos of this eagle family if you visit their nest area.

I visited this nest again yesterday. One of the eaglets is branching 
We were quite annoyed when we saw the big white plastic thing in the nest 
The eaglet in the nest stretched out its wings and flapped a couple of times, nearly knocking the other eaglet off the branch. Then the branched eaglet started jumping up and down flapping its wings. It jumped down into the nest almost on top of the other eaglet then disappeared at the back of the nest. We didn't see or hear any adults for the first 20 minutes then one flew in and perched in a nearby tree. The eaglets started screeching very loudly and continued for the next 10 minutes. The adult was on the same branch when we left.

Eaglet was looking at a Red-tailed hawk that flew by the nest tree.
Eaglets finally stopped squawking and sat quietly.
Adult still on the nearby tree when we left.

I visited this nest today and found one of the adults perched a little ways down the road watching the nest area.
The 2 eaglets have fledged and were not seen or heard in the area. There was a lot of 'stuff' in their nest
