Your name is there! I see it!

Maybe because your post has to be approved first. It appears that all first posts have to be approved. After that you are good to go!

Since your post has now been approved, try your signature again.

I just approved your post, Karen, and this is part of why we needed more people posting so we can see what needs adjusting from the defaults.

And I actually had to approve my own first post - definitely something we need to change before we invite more members to join us here!

Testing to see if my post goes through.

Edited to say --- it does. Now we need a thumbs up smiley.

Thanks, Karen - that will be part of the new member tutorial once we get it written.

To add your location, if you click on your name at the upper right, then choose User Control Panel from the dropdown list, then click on the Profile tab, there's a field for Location at the top, right under Birthday (which we need to decide if we want to let members post, knowing that it can be used to help steal identities).

The location field lets you describe your location however you like - I prefer Midcoast Maine to listing a tiny town no one would know - but you can also put your town and province if you want. I think you can fill in Location while you're registering, but it's not required, so maybe it doesn't show up then.

I'm also thinking we don't need as many types of social media that people could provide - but maybe we need to ask someone who's more involved in that which ones to keep.

Added - also on the Profile tab, the second link on the left is Edit Signature - and that's where you'd add your signature.

I've added my signature --- It works fine

I see there is a nice choice of colours too I may add. Are colours going to be available for all posts. The forum could turn out to be a wild array of colours if everyone has that option. If there a way to turn off colours in the settings if need be ?

Also, is there somewhere to change "posts per page" to increase them ? I notice there are only 10 displayed before a new page appears.

Good question, Judy - though we have the options for lots of colors on the current forum, and have mostly done OK by asking people to not use them in observation posts but save them for the Garden Fence.

I did find "posts per page" in the controls but I'll leave it as is for now until we decide later.

By the way, I didn't retire like I had planned to do but I did reduce my work hours to 6 per day. Wasn't feeling ready to call it quits.

Well, congratulations on your decreased hours - and now the trick will be to see if they actually let you leave when your 6 hours are up!

And it looks as if users cannot customize the numbers of posts they see in the User Control Panel (unless I missed it) - which at least will mean that everyone will have the same posts on page 25.

Want to see different name colors! Right now all I see is one color and it just occurred to me that's because we are all admins!

Aha! Two colors!

And I'm a Forum Assistant, at least at the moment - so here's another color!

Other than posting a reply and then deleting it, I can't find a way to backout of a reply if I change my mind about posting it! There must be a way to cancel that I am not seeing?

I don't see anything other than using the browser's back button to get out of it - how do we do that on the current forum?

Current forum has a cancel post button.

If I recall correctly I do believe our original forum didn't have a cancel button either. We always had to "delete" our posts to get rid of them. It's definitely not an ideal solution for anyone if they've made an error in judgment before posting something.
