1724 - Whoever was in the North Cam tree came down to the Nest, stood, and watched for a moment before flying up to the perch - I could see a dirty tail. Off they went

They did not go far.

1732 - Heard a few snorts. Not sure who was making the noise, but I don't think it's the North Cam Eagle

1734 - Our noisemaker arrived at the Nest and is having a bite to eat. Our North Cam Eagle switches direction on the perch and is now facing the nest.

She is just about done picking at the leftovers, then she goes to the edge and a little bit down on the Nest to clean her beak.. strange spot!
1741 - up and over to her east perch.

1743 - and there she sits. I think she can see the NM and he can see her.

I have to confess that I didn't immediately realize that this was two different eagles, not just different views. And I do love "young love"
Happy you are here - it does seem a busy time at the nest.

Look how she sleeps! Must have been a busy day.
Heya Judy. So nice to see so many nest visits (;

7:35pm - both continue on their perches, female sleeping, male seems to be awake, on watch
Re: Surrey Reserve 2021-2022 Observation and Discussion
7:57 pm
I had to watch a couple of times to see what happened here.
An owl flew in and landed below the sleeping adult. Note the bright eyes and shape to the right of the adult's tail (may need to click bigger to see).
The owl sat there looking around for a few seconds - not sure what type of owl it is, but it's looking off to the right here.
And then it flew up and hit the sleeping eagle on the head - not a very polite thing to do.
Not sure, but it looks as if the eagle has a feather or two displaced after the attack.
I have to admit this makes me wonder if this is how Res got her "cowlick" feather that stuck up a bit.

The adult on the west perch moved to the nest. By the time I got on the cam, there was no one in the nest. And now I think that eagle is perched beside the one on the North cam, though I'm not sure where that is so I just put the South cam back to the nest and upper perches view. Here they are together on the North cam.
Sorry - it's just too late for me to look any further.
8:36 pm
Both adults awake and calling.
Really now.

11:00 pm Here are three videos in support of JudyB's narrative in the post above about the three very early morning visits to the nest. They are not edited to allow for maximum viewing of the eagles for identification purposes.
3:07 am - First of three early morning visits to the nest (1:11)
4:10 am - Second of three early morning visits to the nest - (3:36)
4:44 am - Third of three early morning visits to the nest (4:26)

Good morning, everyone!
I lightened one of the stills from the owl visit last night to make it easier to see the owl in the lower right:
And here's a brief video -
Rude Awakening (45 seconds)
Help wanted - I think this may be the first time I've seen one of the new pair show any interest in moving sticks around on the nest, and I'm curious if it's the male or the female. About the only clue I have is that the female is almost certainly the large eagle, but even that is hard to judge.
Thoughts? Thanks!

From the dvr....
The two adults spent the rest of the night after the owl attack on the perch visible from the North cam. Hard to tell because it was quite dark, but it looked as if one or the other had their head up most of the time, though they might have been dozing. Around 3 am it looked as if they both had their heads tucked in, so they may have gotten some sounder sleep then.
Around 6 am they did some calling, and the one that had been on the right flew to a perch a little to the left of the other adult. This is from later when it was lighter.
They both flew off at 6:58 am, appearing to fly down, though I have no idea where they actually went.
I moved the North cam back to the nest around 7:55 am.
It's now 9:04 am, and I didn't see any additional activity.
I'm away from the computer for a while.
