I'm working on trying to take a video clip from Judy's suggested time of 1053. I"ve never done this so I'm going to recruit my son to see if he can do it before we lose the opportunity!
Look how the New Female puffed up to protect her food from the New Male. She was very vocal as well. I like her

Guys I managed to record the 1053 incident and beyond to 1056 or so. Super funny to watch. The poor New Male needed some food in that flat crop.
Take a look at this brief clip. Steal by the New Male or hip and wing check by the New Female?
Do these links work?
https://youtu.be/lbwToVBg3ac
and the New Male stays away for a bit before circling and coming back for another round.
https://youtu.be/GYMg-rIoBeg
The south cam clip which is even better in my opinion

Welcome back Surrey Reserve Friends. Many thanks to those dedicated tech volunteers working hard to keep us going.
I guess I'll post my last sighting of one of our Eagles which happened later than usual last night. I'm really sorry but due to the grayscale I really couldn't be sure which Eagle it was, but I suspect it may have been the New Female because she perched in a place I have not seen the New Male perch on.
The New Female arrived around 1951 and looked so cute when she was testing out the Nest Bowl and possibly catching some movement of the camera when I was zooming to see her up close.
Then they moved over to a westerly perch and spend the next hour carefully watching everything that was going on down below and all around them. It seemed like they were taking it all in.
ADDED: I don't really like that perch because that tree blocks good visibility.

21:15 - The Eagle turned around, had a PS and then flew off.
Here is their lovely tail feathers. I see spots on the right side maybe.

1358 - I should mention that the South Cam view of the Nest is covered in ice but seems to be getting better so hopefully we'll have that view later on today.
I checked the DVR but did not see any visits yet today. I wonder what those Eagles are up to now. The last few days had quite a bit of Nest and Eagle activity but of course, they are MIA today now that the forums are back up.

Thanks, CC!
The ice on the cam cover is melting, but is still blocking part of the nest. I've moved the cam so it's now showing a bit more of the nest and the part I hope will melt next! It's a lovely sort of winter wonderland post (except for the icy blob on the far right) - and there's a black squirrel partway up the trunk on the left.

Re: Surrey Reserve 2021-2022 Observation and Discussion
The Fraser Valley is experiencing another storm, this time turning everything to ice very quickly. No wonder the Eagles are staying away.
This weather for the last year in BC man, wow. Nothing like I've ever seen before. Stay safe Eagles and humans.

They both were there for a while, both arriving while calling at noon, I think both with food. One of them showed interest in the other's food and was repelled/repulsed - one of those words. Anyway, she(?) snapped at him (twice) and he(?) backed off (twice). Then he(?) - the one on the right on the overhead cam from 12:00 to 12:02 - flew off with the food.
Then maybe she went out to the east perch at 12:11:20, and he appeared from somewhere at 12:11:50 (I was zoomed in - he may have been overhead) and grabbed the food
She(?) came back in from the east perch at 12:16:45. The one I think was the male was on the left side on the South cam, and she was in the back; the male (?) moved over to another piece of leftovers, and she tried to grab it from his foot (and may have grabbed his foot - I think there was a call that sounded like "ouch" as they flapped around a bit at 12:17:04. He kept hold of the food and went over to the edge of the nest holding it while she stayed in the middle of the nest. He ate until 12:19:20 while she stood and looked around.
Then they both did some looking around. The female (?) went up to the little perch at 12:22 and did a poop shot. The male flew off and down, in the general direction of the north cam tree (watching from the south cam) at 12:22:30, and she followed a moment later. I looked around a bit and didn't see them.
Time for me to step away from the computer for a bit.

8:30 am Eagle touches down on SR nest with food and immediately leaves - looks like it is being chased by 4 others. Keep an eye out for the one coming in from the left as it lands on the distant perch on a different branch from what we usually see!

My guess is that the female was eating and the male left first - but hard to judge size. I have some rough video but won't be able to do anything with it tonight. Not much happened, and I couldn't seen any identifying anything in the light - it's getting late and I have things to do tonight so I won't try to do anything with the video until tomorrow - if either of you would like to put something together, please feel free to go for it.

Pretty sure it is the New Male's tail at extreme left of attachment (today's scap) - if picture looks odd it's because I rotated it to be at the same angle as the other two. Not sure, but collar on other eagle looks like current female's plus she is so much bigger than New Male - no pictures just overall impression.

Good morning, everyone! It's currently -3C/27F in Surrey; the temperature should get up to +3C/37F. The forecast is for a few flurries this morning, becoming rain in the afternoon, with rain continuing through the night. Snow expected to be less than 1 cm (less than 1/2 inch), with less than 5 mm rain during the day but 30-40 mm overnight (30 mm is a bit over an inch).
The south cam cover is totally iced up facing the nest; I've moved it to the left a bit so we can see the tall douglas fir and the distant perch, and also another tree. The North cam is offering a clear view of the nest, and I checked the dvr quickly and didn't see any activity. I'm hoping the South cam will clear once the temperature gets above freezing. There is a heating unit in the cam that can help (or make things worse) when the cam fogs up, but I'm reluctant to use it when everything is below freezing for fear that something could crack.
I did check the night perch by the buildings and look around briefly but didn't see anyone - and would expect them to be tucked in somewhere cozy until it gets a bit warmer.
Feel free to move the south cam, and to return it towards a view of the nest if/when it looks as if we can see something there.

Wind Warning
Issued at 05:10 Friday 07 January 2022
Strong winds beginning this morning.
Wind speed: North to northwest winds at 70 km/h gusting to 90.
Timespan: This morning to early afternoon.
Location: Metro Vancouver especially near the Strait of Georgia.
Remarks: An intense low pressure system will generate strong winds to the region beginning this morning. Across most of Metro Vancouver, northwest winds of 50 km/h gusting to 70 will develop. Areas closer to the Strait of Georgia will see stronger winds of 70 km/h gusting to 90. The strong winds will begin to ease through the afternoon.
For those of me who gets confused about place names in BC, the Strait of Georgia is between Vancouver Island and the mainland of BC, so this may affect our Delta, White Rock and French Creek nests as well; the map below shows precipitation.
I did a quick check of the dvr and didn't see any visits, though I've heard a couple of calls while I've been posting.
Stay safe and warm, people, eagles and other creatures.

Adult just landed with food and is now eating on the nest.
I saw him/her fly by in back of the nest before coming in. Am logging in on South for a closer look.
I don't know who this is - I'm thinking female, but a male would likely be fluffed up a bit on a cold wet day, so body shape isn't that useful.
He or she flew off at 8:32, before I had a chance to zoom in.
I'm out of the cam.
