Congratulations to Notre Dame 😀

I don’t think I have seen something cuter than this lately. NE24 with dad Samson at NEFL

It appears this baby NE24 has a bump on his beak.. it could be an infection. as usual AEF is monitoring :cry1: I hope this will heal correctly and won’t be an issue for NE24 feeding !

And this too... TFL from National Arboretum has been missing for 8 days now and a new female is showing on nest, called V5 for the moment :( :cry1: . Mating, fish sharing and more already happen.

I know her from Honor and Glory, then Victor and Valor :cry1: she raised all her chicks successfully except Valor who died from West Nile Virus. The last two seasons no egg were laid. You are deeply missed TFL

TFL will be missed. :cry1:

Interesting shot of the SWFEC nest this morning.
Harriet is on the attic branch, E17 is standing up--if you can see him. E18 sitting down--not shown.

New statement for NE24 :cry1:
I really need someone to explain to me that - only by watching AEF nests :
In 2017 they saved Honor eaglet at DC nest as she had her leg caught (not human caused)
In 2021 they let 2 eaglets die in Captiva on nest who were clearly poisoned- at least for Hope - with AEF being aware of neurological issues 11 days (!!) before her death. Human caused.
Explain to me. Why yes for Honor, and no for Hope, Peace and NE24 (even if it’s not human caused for him)

Samson and Gabrielle are at high risks of being contaminated knowing that AEF first noticed lesions 8 days ago ! :cry1:

AEF-NEFL
AEF cam staff diligently monitors and inspects the adults and eaglets through the season. On February 20th, our volunteer staff noticed the appearance of two lesions on NE24, after consultation with our veterinary staff, we believe the eaglet is showing symptoms of a potential Avipoxvirus (also known as Avian pox) infection.
Avian Pox is common in warm, humid areas, and can be traced to seasonal mosquito increases.
Avian Pox can range from mild to severe. In mild to moderate cases, it can cause permanent scarring, with more severe cases, fatalities can occur.
The Northeast Florida (NEFL) Nest is a wild nest and infections such as Avian Pox can naturally take place. American Eagle Foundation policy, crafted in conjunction with USFWS guidelines, prohibits interference in a wild nest unless the situation can be directly linked to a man-made threat.
As always, viewer discretion is advised.

NEFL

NE24 is recovering - or trying to. Gabrielle is caring for him so well spending hours day and night on his side :rh: :rh: i saw her last night getting up in the middle of the night trying to find something to eat - one if the very few days Samson wasn’t very successful. Now it’s better and lil one is eating well.

They are giving lessons to each of us especially those who hurts wildlife.

Pascale has the cutest video of E17 & E18 from the SWFEC nest.

E17 & E18 are learning about the "birds and the bees" Well, mostly about the birds. :rh: :rh:
Very clever Pascale :D
It is less than 2 min. long.

Gorgeous pic of sub adult Sunnybird!

Sorry to share terrible news from West End - a Catalina islands nest.
Thunder and Akecheeta had 3 eggs due to hatch in the next few days.
Dad was incubating when he left. 2 min later ravens came to the nest and destroyed 2 eggs and killed the chicks inside. :cry1: :brknhrt:
The 3rd egg was taken away.
This is a terrible outcome ! Last year they lost 2 clutches by ravens due to the inexperience of Akecheeta but the eggs were not ready to hatch !
All my condolences to IWS and all followers of that nest :cry1:
Just a few moments before

I’m not angry about ravens, they’re doing what they meant to do but it’s really sad to loose a whole clutch like this... for the 3rd time in 2 years.
IWS Dr Sharpe said there won’t be another clutch... but he said the same for Harriet last year after the loss of e14 !
