May I ask, where in the incubation timeline is this nest? Are they late this year?
A couple years ago, this nest and the local nest I monitor hatched the same week.
Our chicks(2) are over 3 weeks old now.

This nest has a late start this year. They would probably be on your timeline in previous years but are behind based on juvies in the area and the weather was well below average in March. In fact March was colder then February in most of the Northeast and Mid Atlantic.

Thank you. I've watched them less lately, and hoped it was still the same adult pair. My observations-it depends more on the birds than the weather. True?

Yes. I would agree but when coupled with the juvie intruder, it messed up her internal clock and caused the late eggs. To be honest I think many had given up hope and were looking forward to next year.

Washington DC

Parent incubating the eggs and pulling nesting material closer to keep the eggs warm.
I believe this is Mr. President and in the second screen shot you can see him trying to nap.

A number of nests are altering their schedules this year. Decorah North mom laid one egg on Feb 25, but it broke on March 16. She just laid the first egg of a double clutch 3 days ago. Shepherdstown and Hanover lost females/eggs earlier this season and there are now females (one new, one former) back on the nests.

Washington DC

Well it is raining. Mr. President is covered in rain droplets but maintaining his position on the nest.
Have not seen the First Lady so she must be taking a break.

Wet morning in DC. More rain today. Flood warnings are out. Here's TFL in the nest and MrP looking for something on the ground.

Washington DC

Ma is awake and moving nest material. Very active this morning.
Maybe because it is not raining.

Enjoy your day.

I apologize I haven't been able to be here in the last few days. I have some family issues I'm trying to deal with right now.

Looks like our eagles are still doing ok. Pip should be some where around the 29th, so stay tuned.

Cams are really bad from 8am to 5pm. Given that, it shouldn't be too hard to figure out what is going on. I suspect they know what the problem is, but don't have a fix or the fix will cost $$.
