Through the telescope

Ma & Pa Stalashen are still around protecting their nest. Have seen them many times.
I saw both there one on a favourite branch and one at the top of the tree but the time I got my camera out the one at the top had flown away!

I have been checking on the Stalashen nest but not posted anything lately but here's a pic taken yesterday one in the nest and one in the tree. They are incubating. Sorry but the picture is a little blurry.

We've missed your photos here Marg and I'm so glad you have found incubating happening. I haven't been out with my camera and feel I'm missing the fun out there. Soon I hope! I bet the incubating find made your day!

Fund Drive for Hard Drives

Good afternoon, everyone! I have just learned that we do not have the hard drives we need to record our cams as we approach little chick time - and we do not have the funds necessary to buy them.

These are the high resolution drives that are connected directly to the cams at the site, making it possible to record high quality videos of events at the nests - and we usually have them up and running before the eggs are laid. As you know, we already have eggs at three of our four nests, and they are likely any day now at the fourth nest - so time is of the essence.

Our tech person Ken is estimating that it will cost about $7000 to buy the high quality, high capacity drives needed for our 9 cams, and while we are keeping up with our regular monthly expenses, we don't have the extra money needed to buy and install the hard drives.

I know this is a hard time financially for many of us, with many businesses closed - but it may also be a time when some of us are staying home and watching the eagles after cancelling planned trips or dinners out - and I'd like to ask those who can to contribute towards these hard drives.

Just checked the nest about 8a.m.through our telescope and saw one on a branch and the other on the edge of the nest as I watched the one on the nest flew up to Ma and I witnessed action. The time I got my camera it was too late they had left the branch.

Nice timing Marg! Have they continued to incubate since your March 9 posting? Behaviour you witnessed seems a little odd 3 weeks later! I wonder what's going on.

Thanks for this Marg. I never thought mating would continue after egg laying but it does make sense in case there is a loss of egg(s), more can be produced. :thumlft:
