For chicks who are only 8 and 7 days old, these are quite the little wanderers.
These are from around 3:30 pm
4:30 pm
Here they are now - both are fine, just sleeping.

This nest has challenging weather conditions - and great parents. Keeping fingers crossed that all will be well.
The chicks are 15 and 16 days old.
6:31 pm
I missed the feeding, which folks on Facebook said went well, but you can see that there's a nice dry area, so chicks should be able to stay dry tonight.

I peeked in a bit ago and was able to see that they are doing OK in this horrible weather. They got a quick dual feeding and mom was back on them. Dad has also been on nest protecting too.
I am keeping positive that they will both be OK as long as mom can keep them both covered and dry. Glad there wasn't 3 because I think if there was one more of them may have not all fit under mom because of their size now.Re: Fort St Vrain CO Eagle Cam 2018 + 2019
Wow - I hadn't realized it had been a whole month since I last looked in here - and thanks for your post, Duck_Keeper!

2019 Summary
I'm adding this in January 2020, since I didn't get back to cover the end of the nesting season. The eagles had a good year in spite of some bad weather, and we think that FSV39 fledged around June 10 and FSV40 fledged around June 13 (they spent a lot of time branching out of sight before fledging, and probably flew from the upper branches, so hard to be sure when exactly they fledged).
They continued to be seen for several weeks, and both were on the nest on July 4th. I'm not actually sure if the adults leave the area, but know they were seen for a while after that.

Thanks for getting our 2020 nesting season started, Ferenz - I'm guessing your first picture was while they were testing the cams?
January 21
One of the adults was on the nest with food, and stood there a long time before finally starting to eat. That makes me think it might be the male, and he waited to see if the female would come to claim the food before starting to eat it. I'm seeing a band on the left leg, but can't tell if there's one on the right. Assuming this is the same pair, the female has two bands - but I don't know which leg of the male is banded.

I missed exactly what happened, but suddenly there was a flurry of wings, and then two eagles.
I think Mom arrived and claimed the food, and Dad quickly got out of the way as she came in. The adult who is eating now has two bands, and is eating quickly, as if hungry - and the other adult appeared to be cleaning his beak before leaving.
