Wilson Creek Bald Eagles, Sunshine Coast, BC 2018-2019

Welcome to the Wilson Creek nest thread. Old forum thread here

If you visit the Wilson Creek nest you are welcome to post comments and pictures here.

The nest is located on private property on the south side of the Sunshine Coast Highway near the intersection with Field Rd. If you visit the nest please respect the privacy of the owners. The nest can be seen from the opposite side of the highway on the grass verge just below the campground, on the Roberts Creek side of the campground sign. But its not a very comfortable place to stand for long periods due to the traffic Smile The nest can definitely be seen from the highway during the winter but once the trees leaf out in the summer I am not sure whether it will still be visible - TBD.

The nest is new to the forum in 2017 but it was occupied in 2015 (1 eaglet ) and 2016 ((possibly 1 eaglet) and possibly longer. The eagles are often seen flying above and around the Wilson Creek plaza area and I have seen border disputes with the eagles of the Field Rd nest.

On May 30 I had a rare sighting of the Wilson Creek pair. :) I was watching the Browning eagles and saw one adult high in a tree further along the beach. That adult, I think Ma, flew down to the rocks and was soon joined by the male. They sat on the rocks for quite some time, occasionally calling out together. Even with a long lens they were too far for great pics but it was nice to see them!

I've not seen any activity road side of the nest tree. I'm glad you saw some waterside!

I haven't seen this pair yet but I have definitely heard them calling.

I'm pretty sure I heard two calling to each other and also 'across the fence' to the Field Rd neighbours :)
