This one shows the difference between his two eyes quite well - the right one seems darker.

And a couple more pictures of the right eye.

I've looked back on the South cam and didn't see any previous visits, so now I'm going to reboot South.

Checking the North dvr - and it's not pixelating, but it's jumping 6-8 seconds so a bit scattered to watch. It looks as if Sur arrived around 10:57 with a stick, and then did a bit of work - and I may have a video of that shortly, but for now, here are a few pictures.

It's now 11:43 am and he's back again working on the nest.

Someone returned while I was posting the video - and I think it may be Res. But she left before I could zoom in to check the eyes. Looking back on the dvr to see what I can see - North stopped jumping around, happily.

Not sure what she's been eating - some stains on her beak - but while she's mining too much for me to get a close look at her eyes, I've seen the "cowlick" or little tuft of feathers on the top of her head several time, and have some fairly clear looks at her eyes.

It looks as if she does have skin around the eye, but hers is very pale so usually blends with her feathers. Here's one picture - I'll add a few more in a minute.

And I saw her tail as she flew off - definitely Res.

And now she's back - but I have things I need to do. I'll add a few pictures, and hope the dvr continues to behave so others can watch. I've switched the cam to the nest_perches preset - will see if that works better for seeing them in the nest, since we really don't often see them elsewhere - let me know what you think.

I want to re-post these pictures side by side because the angle is pretty similar.

This is Sur

This is Res

You can see the feathers sticking up on the top of Res's head - Sur's feathers are usually smooth there.

The angle is not perfect now that I see them side by side, but Res's beak is thicker or taller from top to bottom and possibly longer, and the back part of Sur's beak ends more or less under the middle of his eye, while the back part of Res's beak goes back slightly farther, past the middle of the eye.

More pictures of Res -

A clearer look at her cowlick

Looking directly at the camera - her right eye might be slightly darker, but the difference is greater with Sur.

Two views of Res's left eye - in the first one, you can see the skin around the eye - but it really blends in with her feathers in the second one.

Another angle on her right eye.

And they were both there working on the nest together from about 12:18 - 12:22 when Res left; Sur stayed until 12:31 pm.

Both try to move the same stick; Sur (on the left) gets it; Res decides to let him work while she watches.

Sur does some work on the nest cup.

He decides the stick he took from Res and put on the left is in the wrong place, and moves it.

It's now 12:45 pm, and one of them is back with another stick - and I really do need to leave - bye!

4:27 pm Can't really tell for sure if there were any visits this afternoon - DVR covers one minute in 10 seconds skipping so much. From what I saw there were no visits. BBL tonight and try again.

Sorry, Bev and gemini - North dvr started working properly for me after 3 or 4 tries, so I didn't do a reboot. I'm doing one now (5:35 pm).

Goodnight, everyone! :offtobed:

Sur arrived at 6:41 pm and stood in the nest bowl until Res arrived at 6:42 and literally shoved him out of the way. She then lay down for awhile in the bowl eventually getting up to let Sur have a turn. They did their favorite thing - looked around for about 10 minutes, then Res left. Sur got up and stood around just looking until he left at about 6:55 -
