Thank you journi for moderating this forum all summer. It was so nice to touch base from time to time. Thank you Vicki for sharing with us what you see. Early mornings are such a treat. I’m following the hurricane and expect the nest will do well. M15, architect. Harriet, quality control. Fingers crossed for their favorite trees.

Hi trusteagles! Thank you...and thank you for your post!
Yes, what a treat it is to have Vicki watching the nest throughout the summer months!
I'm following the reports on hurricane Dorian, too.
I really like what you expressed in your post:
" ...expect the nest will do well. M15, architect. Harriet, quality control.
Fingers crossed for their favorite trees." .....

Re: SW Florida Eagle Cam 2018~2019
You are all so welcome.
It is hard to "catch" our pair at the nest during the summer, but so rewarding when I do see one or both so I can share it with all of you too.
I am hoping to get to the nest before and after the hurricane makes landfall on the east coast (Ft Myers is on the west coast)... it is a slow moving storm and will not make landfall until late Tuesday/early Wednesday. A slow moving storm is unpredictable, so we wait and see.
Prayers all wildlife and humans in Hurricane Dorian's path remain safe.

Hi Vicki! Thank you for your post!
And... when you do visit the nest tree area "before and after the hurricane makes landfall on the east coast..."
please remember what you always say to the eagles: "Be Safe and Be Careful!"
Yes...thoughts and prayers for all beings who may be affected by hurricane Dorian....

Hello everyone. I visited the nest this morning.
VIDEO: https://youtu.be/7H_zEMHjos0
The Nest Tree Stands Tall & Strong~No Nest Work This AM 09-01-19
The weather in the pasture was like a typical summer morning with no evidence of a storm approaching. Our area so far will not see any effects from Hurricane Dorian. There was no nest work or nest visit by Harriet or M15 during my visit. I heard Harriet vocalize before dawn and saw her fly from the west pasture tree line to the distant south. I checked a few other perch spots of H & M's, but did not see or hear them. Clearing of the land at yonder pond continues. Remember Harriet and her first mate, Ozzie, nested through expansion of the highway to 4 lanes and construction across the road when the shopping center was built. I'm hopeful she and M15 will adapt this time also.

Hi everybody. I visited the nest this morning.

A Stick & Mutual Vocals Start The Morning For H & M 09-05-19
Early morning vocals from the west pasture were heard before Harriet flew to the nest tree and M15 flew to a pond snag before joining Harriet. Both checked the nest and then perched together in the attic. M flew out to grab a strangler fig branch but missed. So on he flew, breaking a stick from another tree to add to the nest, with H’s approval. They vocalized to each other and anyone else in hearing range, declaring their territory. M flew SW followed by H to perch side by side in a tall pine nearby in sight of their nest tree.

Good evening everyone! I visited the nest this morning.

Seven Sticks~Attempted "Mating"~Breakfish From The Pond 09-10-19
H & M were busy this morning adding sticks and placing them in the nest with discussions on placement as usual. M sure likes those big sticks! M15 whispered sweet vocals to H and attempted mating/bonding (although fertilization and laying of eggs will not take place until November), but they are strengthening their bond by this display. Harriet ate a fish she got from the pasture pond while M watched over their territory.
