Thank you journi for moderating this forum all summer. It was so nice to touch base from time to time. Thank you Vicki for sharing with us what you see. Early mornings are such a treat. I’m following the hurricane and expect the nest will do well. M15, architect. Harriet, quality control. Fingers crossed for their favorite trees.

:eag: Hi trusteagles! Thank you...and thank you for your post!
Yes, what a treat it is to have Vicki watching the nest throughout the summer months!

I'm following the reports on hurricane Dorian, too.
I really like what you expressed in your post:

Fingers crossed for their favorite trees."

You are all so welcome.

It is hard to "catch" our pair at the nest during the summer, but so rewarding when I do see one or both so I can share it with all of you too.

I am hoping to get to the nest before and after the hurricane makes landfall on the east coast (Ft Myers is on the west coast)... it is a slow moving storm and will not make landfall until late Tuesday/early Wednesday. A slow moving storm is unpredictable, so we wait and see.

Prayers all wildlife and humans in Hurricane Dorian's path remain safe.

And... when you do visit the nest tree area "before and after the hurricane makes landfall on the east coast..."
please remember what you always say to the eagles: "Be Safe and Be Careful!" ;)

Yes...thoughts and prayers for all beings who may be affected by hurricane Dorian....

Hello everyone. I visited the nest this morning.

:vid: VIDEO: https://youtu.be/7H_zEMHjos0

The Nest Tree Stands Tall & Strong~No Nest Work This AM 09-01-19

The weather in the pasture was like a typical summer morning with no evidence of a storm approaching. Our area so far will not see any effects from Hurricane Dorian. There was no nest work or nest visit by Harriet or M15 during my visit. I heard Harriet vocalize before dawn and saw her fly from the west pasture tree line to the distant south. I checked a few other perch spots of H & M's, but did not see or hear them. Clearing of the land at yonder pond continues. Remember Harriet and her first mate, Ozzie, nested through expansion of the highway to 4 lanes and construction across the road when the shopping center was built. I'm hopeful she and M15 will adapt this time also.

Hi everybody. I visited the nest this morning.

:vid: VIDEO: https://youtu.be/MZM8RCY_uc8

A Stick & Mutual Vocals Start The Morning For H & M 09-05-19

Early morning vocals from the west pasture were heard before Harriet flew to the nest tree and M15 flew to a pond snag before joining Harriet. Both checked the nest and then perched together in the attic. M flew out to grab a strangler fig branch but missed. So on he flew, breaking a stick from another tree to add to the nest, with H’s approval. They vocalized to each other and anyone else in hearing range, declaring their territory. M flew SW followed by H to perch side by side in a tall pine nearby in sight of their nest tree.

Good evening everyone! I visited the nest this morning.

Seven Sticks~Attempted "Mating"~Breakfish From The Pond 09-10-19

H & M were busy this morning adding sticks and placing them in the nest with discussions on placement as usual. M sure likes those big sticks! M15 whispered sweet vocals to H and attempted mating/bonding (although fertilization and laying of eggs will not take place until November), but they are strengthening their bond by this display. Harriet ate a fish she got from the pasture pond while M watched over their territory.

They're Working On The Cams~Harriet Checks Her Nest Tree 09-12-19

Cam installation for Season 8 has begun. Here are some highlights from today. Before I left Harriet circled over the area, checking on her territory as always. She appeared to fly at a branch from a west pasture tree and grab it, but she missed and flew to perch and watch the pasture activity from another tree. When she saw M15 flying over her, she followed him across the road. Both perched in a pine tree behind the shopping center to watch the pasture activity. I will visit the nest again tomorrow morning.

No Nest Work-H & M Leave Early~The Cams Are In Place 09-13-19

The Harvest moon shone bright on the nest tree this morning. Harriet and M15 flew from the west pasture to the distant south at 7:05 am and had not returned when I left at 9:00 am. Four cams are now in place in the trees in the pasture. The birds and squirrels were active in the pastures during H & M's absence.

Hi budgycac.

There were four cameras last year but not all worked throughout the whole season, as we know. This is what is written under the live feed screens on the website at https://www.dickpritchettrealestate.com/eagle-feed.html :

****************************
The 2018-2019 season is the seventh season Dick Pritchett Real Estate has provided the live look into this Southwest Florida nest. This season we will again catch all the action using FOUR cameras that film the birds 24/7 and stream live video directly to this site.
Camera #1 is positioned six feet above the nesting tree and is equipped with night vision or infrared light, which emits no actual light. Nor does it make any noise. The birds do not see or hear anything coming from the camera. Camera #2 is located approximately 60 feet from the nest and has the ability to capture images of the nest action outside the view of Camera #1. (See diagram right for picture of cam locations) Both cameras are environmentally friendly, non-intrusive and positioned to offer the best view of the nest and birds while preserving the pristine beauty of the nest and their surroundings.
Cam #3 is installed closer to the north of the pond, to capture activity happening around the pasture and in the pond area.
Cam 360 (Cam #4) is located in the nest tree and the first ever live camera in history to capture a 360 degree look into a bald eagle’s daily activity. This cam allows you to click and drag to any viewing area for a fully immersive experience.

A Beautiful Morning To Simply Perch, Preen & Protect The Area 09-17-19

Yesterday morning H & M were observed working in the nest but today there was no nest work and both H & M simply perched, preened and watched their territory. Harriet arrived first from the southeast, flying over the nest tree to perch in a west pasture snag. M15 flew in from the SE around the back of the west pasture trees as Harriet tracked him to one of the power poles to the NW. Two hours later, M joined H in the west pasture snag where they perched side by side.
