Good morning, everyone, and thanks for starting our day, nightowl!

5:50 am
Beautiful morning.

North cam seems to be streaming smoothly - but I noticed something interesting. When I checked the dvr, the cam jumped from 1:59 am to 5:32 am. This is not the first time I've seen a gap like that - but I'd assumed it had to do with whatever is causing the pixelating and poor signals either to or from YouTube. But today the cam is streaming well. Strange.

North goes back to 2:43 pm yesterday, and I didn't notice any visits.

I also checked South dvr and didn't see any visits - though with the long rollback, it's easy to miss brief visits.

Have a good day, everyone! I'll check in when I can.

Added - rebooting North at 6:32 am.

Nothing to report since JudyB's last post - other than the North cam has a spinning circle. I'll post in the tech thread.

Good morning, Beth and Bev - and I've rebooted North a couple more times, and it's just not streaming well and I have no clue why.

I did ask Ken about a loose connection and he says that's not likely - if there was a loose connection, the stream would go blank, rather than pixelating and sounding choppy as it often does. It could be a problem with the modem or the bandwidth - but if that's it, I don't know why it affects the North cam so much more often than the South cam - though as I was typing that, the South cam also went to a spinning circle. However, South cam back when I reloaded my browser page - and North did eventually, but the sound is choppy and the images are pixelating. Sigh.

Ken and I will continue to try to think of things to check, but I'm getting low on ideas, and he's clearly frustrated as well.

Good morning, everyone!

This is a picture of the sunset from the dvr - I'm thinking I haven't really noticed that as much as sunrise when I'm looking back - it's from 8:47 pm.

And this is the sunrise picture I posted yesterday:

This is a bit off topic - but even though the southern part of BC is a long way from the arctic circle and the land of midnight sun - it's closer than we are in Maine! Hmm - I should try to remember to take a pair of pictures like this next June, when the days are longest in the northern hemisphere. But we tend to be busy watching chicks then, so I'll probably forget. :)

And I didn't see anything of interest on the dvr, and will reboot the North cam in a minute.

As I continue to think about the issues we're having with the North cam, my latest question for Ken was about how the signal got from the cam to the computer and modem; I know some of the cams have a wireless transmitter - and I'm wondering if that's what we're using here, and if there could be something interfering with the signal. Stay tuned....

3:02 pm Quiet at the nest today - not even any construction noise to speak of. - at least at the moment. No sign of eagles.

Checked back to the end of the DVR on South cam which went back to 8:20 last night. There must have been some down time of the this cam as well. I found three gaps in time of an hour or two and there are probably more.

Thanks, Beth and gemini, and thanks for the weather, Bev.

I've heard from a few people who mentioned that the gaps in the dvr are likely an issue with YouTube and not something affecting only our cams - which makes sense because there's no consistency - if the power was out at Surrey, both cams would be down - and I saw something similar at Delta when I checked the dvr there yesterday.

Good morning, everyone, and thanks for the weather forecast, Bev!

I took a quick look back on the dvr and didn't see anything. I also rebooted the North cam.

Good evening!

5:23 pm
North was doing the spinning circle again, so I rebooted it a little while ago. I just looked back on South, and didn't find any activity.

Good night. :offtobed:
