What a timely visit Heather, despite the tide not cooperating. Nicely caught and shared as well! All looks good here.

I visited again on June 3 and nothing to be seen in the nest but one parent was perched nearby and the other flew in shortly after I arrived and headed straight up to the nest probably with a food delivery. :)

On July 1 I could just see 1 eaglet head in the nest with Ma and Pa perched nearby looking pretty relaxed

On July 14, the tide was high and I couldn't get down to the nest but I could see Ma and Pa off in the distance perched near the nest

I visited again on July 25 and the bad news is that their nest has collapsed again with no eaglets visible.
But the good news is that I saw an adult come in with food and definitely heard at least 1 eaglet calling out from a branch above where the nest had been. So 1 eaglet definitely survived. :) I wasn't able to see either eaglet but I hope to visit again later this week to check again. I looked around the base of the nest tree and saw only twigs and branches . SO fingers crossed both survived. :luck:

After the food drop, both adults sat in a shady spot near the nest tree.

Thanks for your report Heather. Sad the nest collapsed but good that you heard one eaglet calling. Fingers crossed the other eaglet survived.

Yes, thanks for your update Heather. I'm going with the hope that the nest was destroyed by wingsercising activity by 2 fully grown eaglets and that both have fledged. :D Perhaps before they leave you will see them together. :luck:

Thanks for the update Heather, so sorry to read that the nest has collapsed once again. Hopefully the two eaglets were old enough to survive without the nest.

Thank you for your good wishes for this family Marg, Sandra and Karen. I think it worked as I popped down there this morning and saw 2 eaglets ..... and in fact 2 fledged eaglets!

:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

As I was walking down the beach towards the nest I saw - and heard - each of the eaglets do a loop out from the trees over the water. They went one at a time and there was a lot of squealing from the eaglets with the occasional call from an adult that was sitting in the trees. It totally sounded as though the eaglets were saying "Aaaaaaargh - what do I do now" and the adult was saying "Don't worry you'll be OK - just look straight ahead" ..... at least in my imagination! :) I did wonder if it was the actual fledging as they were so noisy. If it was, that would have been such a special moment to see :D

A few minutes later they flew down to the rocks in front of the nest with a bit less squealing this time. They spent some time just looking around the neighbourhood before fly hopping around from one rock to another.

The pics aren't the best as I was shooting into the sun. Plus I didn't want to get too close in case I panicked them and got into difficulties, perhaps even flying into the water . After watching them get used to their new viewpoint from the rocks for about 10 mins I left them to explore the rest of their world. I wIsh the family a successful winter and wish the eaglets long and happy lives. :eag: :eag: :eag: :eag:

Wow! I'm so glad for you to have seen 2 fledglings! It pays to keep checking on them when we can.
