Thanks Sandra! Yes, all seems to be going well for this pair this year. :)

I visited again on May 30 and there was nothing to see in the nest. One adult was sitting on top of the nest tree having a bit of a wash and brush up. It must be quite tricky getting to those feathers at the base of the tail!

Then the other adult, I think Pa, who had been perched out of site swooped down to the water and began to fish almost right in front of me - a beautiful sight indeed!

He missed on the first swoop but came around again and managed to pick up a small fish. He tried some mid air acrobatics on the way back to the nest ....perhaps to get a tighter grip on the fish? In the last pic, there is a little fish shaped blob at the bottom left but I'm hoping that's a different fish jumping and that he didn't drop it!

I was at the wrong angle to see if he went back to the nest and by the time I was able to see the nest he wasn't anywhere to be seen. But fingers crossed he made iot back to the nest with the fish :)

And then on June 3 I visited and saw 1 eaglet. Pa dropped off a meal and made a swift exit so the eaglet must now be able to self feed. And there's a chance that there were 2 eaglets as some of the body shapes just seemed a bit strange for one eaglet.

Like so many nests on the Coast a large piece of plastic had appeared since my last visit but hopefully with the winds today that will have blown away. I will try to get down there this weekend

What an enjoyable visit with so much going on, pictures to enjoy. Thank you for sharing such entertaining visits! Good to see happening what should be happening, except for the plastic. It does look relatively loose though, like a hopeful sail for the wind.

Catching up on my postings for this nest ! :(

I visited early on June 26 and nothing going on at the nest thought happily that large piece of plastic had gone :)

From further along the beach I looked back and could see one adult perched near the nest with the other one perched near the entrance to Jack beach. That adult was drying off in the sunshine. Perhaps fishing for breakfast or drying off after a rain shower?

On July 1, the eaglet was exploring the nest. The pics are taken about 1 min apart. While 1 adult was on the favourite perch tree further down the beach

On July 14, I saw both adults perched at the far end of their territory on a favourite tree. One adult did a flyby and showed some pretty tattered tail feathers, almost as if something had taken a bite out of his/her tail!

A visit to the nest on July 22 showed 1 eaglet perched on a branch beside the nest. Yay!

And on July 25, Ma and Pa looking pretty relaxed further down the beach

Again on July 29, Ma and Pa looking relaxed on their favourite perch tree

I visited the territory on Aug 8 and saw one adult down the beach in hunting mode. There were a couple of flybys and then s/he landed on the perch tree and as you can see there was quite breeze that morning.

Next I headed down to the nest and saw the eaglet perched on top of the nest tree. So one successful fledge! :)

I watched for a while and s/he seemed quite happy there so I started to walk back to my car. I was half way back when I heard excited eaglet calls so ran back to see the eaglet in the nest eating something and an adult now perched at the top of the tree perhaps eating a bit of the the catch of the day. The adult flew away soon after. So I'm guessing that the adult hunting down the beach had been successful!

I visited on Aug 12 and saw the eaglet perched on the favourite family tree at the entrance down to Jack Beach. S/he seemed to be holding a small Douglas fir branch and having a spot of bother holding onto it and the perch. I did wonder if it is was caught around her/his feet but as the eaglet flew away s/he seemed to be playing with it and eventually dropped it.

I headed down to the nest tree shortly after and the eaglet was back at the top of the nest tree .... minus the twig! :)
