Naoma, we all do have accidents, whether older or younger, it happens. I hope you heal quickly.
Of course we have crows here too, owls of all kinds, etc.......The Woodlands is just that......woods, so birds are here.

The adults had to teach the young crows how to drink out of the bird bath properly, then they brought all sorts of food items to soften Naoma. I wasn't too thrilled seeing the rat they dropped in tho.

Awwww, Iona The pups are precious & so many of them.
I never thought of the parents needing to teach the babes to drink, Scott. I just assumed it was instinct to know how to drink.
A rat, ewwww
The juvie hawk floated down into my yard today and stood on the ground looking around before flying off. I haven't heard it screeching for food as much today. The osprey was back soaring & then on the perch it likes.
Mostly I have cardinals & lots of wrens right now. The wrens sing really loud for a such a small bird. I replenished my birdseed after being out for a week or two so I should see a bigger variety back again.
Carolyn, I have woods all around here too. Most yards also have trees. I have all the usual birds you'd expect. We don't have scissor tailed flycatchers like in Tx. I miss watching the beautiful birds & their aerial displays. We do have Swallow Tailed Kite here & they are fun to watch too.
Good Evening Wishes All

Naoma, sounds delightful in the bird aspect. I forgot to mention hummingbirds who have just started to come. They love my hamelia tree and usually one does not let any other hummers here, we'll see. The one my husband has seen, which I have not as they hide from me, is brown.
Iona, thanks for the info on the pups, wishing them all success!

Thanks for the puppy updates, vids, and pic Iona.
I could see #4 breathing eventually after all their work, but did she make it?
Cool hawk encounter along with your other yard visitors Naoma. The Swallow Tailed Kite is a beautiful bird.
The young crows knew how to drink but they were just putting their bills straight down into the shallow bird bath. The parents taught them to turn their heads sideways to do it more efficiently.
Great that you're seeing the hummers now Carolyn. I haven't seen my regular around here for a month now but maybe that's just because there are so many flowers to use.

Hey Scott Yes little #4 is doing great. When #5 popped, Carlene handed #4 back to Judy. Judy continued to work on her, and all of a sudden little started yelling and has been doing fine ever since. She was even climbing all over her siblings to get to the milk bar.
Unless something changes all but one are girls. They will recheck in a couple days.

Thanks Naoma. I was busy making chili at that time and missed it but should be up on their YouTube channel in a few days.
