I've never seen the hole in a tree near the old PB nest Heather! Looks like a possible nest site. Good timing to see the adult fly back to the Marsh.
And yes, it looks like you caught 2 eaglet bottoms in your picture! Normally we count by head numbers. Good try with the poop shot. Split second timing is needed. I am always amazed when they are caught on nest cams.
I'll let Maureen know you counted 2 here.
Marsh Nest, Sechelt on the Sunshine Coast BC 2018/19
Re: Marsh Nest, Sechelt on the Sunshine Coast BC 2018/19
On Tues June 18 only 1 eaglet was visible sitting up proudly at the edge of the nest. A nice big healthy looking bird.
Re: Marsh Nest, Sechelt on the Sunshine Coast BC 2018/19
Drove by the nest on my way to the Government Wharf this morning and saw one eaglet perched outside of the nest on a branch. It was raining quite hard so I didn't take any pictures.
Re: Marsh Nest, Sechelt on the Sunshine Coast BC 2018/19
Thank you for the update Karen! We have to be thankful for the rain and not mind it prevented you from taking pics.
Re: Marsh Nest, Sechelt on the Sunshine Coast BC 2018/19
I was back in Sechelt this morning so stopped by the nest again, not just a driveby this time. I again saw one eaglet perched on a branch beside the nest, but couldn't see any sign of the second one, that has been seen by Heather and Sandra, from on the road or from inside the Marsh. I wonder if one fell out of the nest and is in care ? The youngster on the branch was doing some calling but I didn't see any adults while I was there.

Re: Marsh Nest, Sechelt on the Sunshine Coast BC 2018/19
Thanks Karen! We have one doing what we want them to do. Hard to say if we will suddenly see 2 or if something has happened to the other. I've heard nothing.
Re: Marsh Nest, Sechelt on the Sunshine Coast BC 2018/19
Great updates Sandra and Karen.
I have been visiting this nest too but have not been very good at keeping up with posting my pics So here are a few pics from June. One of an adult on June 6 and 2 of the nest with 1 eaglet visible on June 29. The 2 later pics were taken about 10 mins apart so the eaglet had been moving around the nest.

Re: Marsh Nest, Sechelt on the Sunshine Coast BC 2018/19
I visited on July 4 and saw an eaglet perched on a branch right by the nest at first snoozing but then preening. A couple of mins later an adult, I think Pa, flew in and made a food drop. I missed the actual drop but the eaglet jumped into the middle of the nest and was obviously tucking right into something I only saw one eaglet.
Pa then flew back over to the alternate nest tree where I hadn't noticed Ma had been sitting. They both then decided to serenade each other

Re: Marsh Nest, Sechelt on the Sunshine Coast BC 2018/19
I visited again on July 21 and no activity at the nest. I looked around and saw an eagle silhouetted over on the alternate nest tree ..... and as I got closer I saw that it was an eaglet! So one definite fledge!
I walked around the marsh right underneath him/her. S/he looked my way but seemed really unconcerned and quickly went back to looking around at the neighbourhood.

Re: Marsh Nest, Sechelt on the Sunshine Coast BC 2018/19
I visited again today, saw 1 adult and heard 1 eaglet but wasn't able to see where the eaglet was sitting. No pics uploaded yet but I will add some if any look interesting.
Again the nest looked empty so there may only be 1 eaglet from this nest this year. I looked back over the pics on the thread and couldn't see any that definitely showed 2 eaglets, just the possibility of 2. But you never know they may surprise us yet!

Thank you Heather! It is satisfying to know we have a fledge at this nest. I was sure at the time that I saw movement of a second eaglet and you were suspicious as well. I hate to think we lost an eaglet but fear that may be the case.

I will now lock this thread in anticipation of starting a new one with positive sightings this coming nesting season.
