Simba at big bear will turn 100 days old today and hasn't fledged yet.
Tomorrow he will break SWFEC E4 record.
He even doesn't look "interested" in flying.
does the death of cookie impact him that much - as E3's maybe at SWFEC ?
He is so adorable.

You're welcome Sunybird ! May be yes, may be not who knows and is it important she is not alone and the subadult seems to be ok too.

Pascale, I think the late cold, snow, rain and the loss of Cookie, was a bad way to spend for Simba too, it took him a couple of weeks to overcome all these problems, and now he seems so good, as the restaurant is very good, the weather is clement so why flying away, that is the question ... ! :mihihi:

At Decorah North a juvie spent all day in the territory of Mom DNF and Dad Decorah North and spent the evenig in their tree too

This is an interview from Tuesday July 23rd 2019 with Marisa Nelson, Assistant Director at the Quogue Wildlife Refuge, Long Island, NY.
Sam - The 35-year-old bald eagle has been part of the refuge for decades, ever since the bird was shot by a hunter. His right wing was amputated. Sammy could no longer fly, and was lovingly cared for by staff, and was a favorite of visitors.
Long Island officials are offering a $15,000 reward for the safe return of Sam.

this is such a shame and a criminal thing to do. I hope sammy can be returned to his home and the guy who did this is punished. I hoped there will be a camera to ID him. I'm glad Christian did this to help Marisa and everyone taking care of this guy!

Sad News from Hog Island :(
A GHO took away the younger osplet Dion tonight, Mom Rachel try to "intervene" but with her injured left leg she seemed like stucked on her branch as she saw the GHO coming :brknhrt:

Rachel was iniured during the banding of the osplets. As she was not able to stay in or close from her nest to protects her kids against human interventions, she flew away and may be met BE Or intruder ospreys. As she returned to the nest at the end of the banding the poor Rachel was injured and is still a couple of weeks after...
The scientist said the banding phases were not the direct cause of that..
My opinions is they are not the direct cause, but the indirect one.
And i'm sure, tonight with the ligthts, the mannings, and a VALID Rachel, Dion :rh: should be still with us and its family :cry1:

Hog Island Ospreys ~ A Great Horned Owl (GHO) Takes Osprey Chick From Nest w/ SLO MO! 7.25.19
Early this morning at 2:02 AM A Great Horned Owl flew in and grabs one of the osprey chicks and flies off with it. Rachel saw it coming but was unable to reach the nest in time to save her baby. I am very sorry to report another loss at this nest and deeply saddened. I believe the owl took the youngest chick - Dion. In regular time and slo mo. Thank you for watching!

So sad about Sammy. Thanks, Phil, for the great idea of asking Christian for help. His video interview was great; I've posted it on my Facebook page.

I feel so bad for Rachel, poor thing, first with her bad leg and now losing one of her chicks to a darn GHO.

Here are a few updates from SOAR about the Decorah eaglets:
25 July 2019 No change of scenery yet for D32. Kay reports that he looks good and that she saw him move toes on the right foot. That’s positive.
D33 and DN9
25 July 2019
The hatch-year 2019 bald eagles in the nursery have moved to the 20’x60’ flight pen! D33, DN9, Allamakee, and Calmar moved on 23 July and can now “start their engines” so to speak. This flight pen is large enough to allow for those necessary short flights that build muscle, stamina, and skill in landing.

Your welcome Lanie but it'd not me who ask Christian for help, but for sure it was a good idea for the one who did it :huggie:
Did you check Decorah with the Sub adult and Mom ?
