Re: Lafarge 2018/2019 Eagle Nest Discussion, Photos and Videos
Hi everyone,
Went to the tree this afternnon and one eaglet was in the tree another was in a neighbouring tree on a branch and I only saw it when it flew over my head (just a few feet above my head) I have never been that close to an eagle before - It was seriously about 10 or 12 feet above me - kinda freaked me out. It flew out of this tree and then an adult flew out right after it. It was amazing to see but little nervewracking, too. A neighboor watched it all and told me that the young one had followed the adult into a tree and when they flew out the seagulls came and that is why it flew down so low. I have had crows swoop me but never has eagle come so close - yikes. I guess when they are just learning to fly this can happen - makes me nervous for them.

I love how you seem so connected to these 2 eaglets Christine. Awesome you saw a fledge as well as followup behaviour in learning how to fly, land, control the flight path. All the fun stuff. Thank you for the pictures and for the marvellous sharing of information here.

Eastvan Girl wrote: ↑Tue Jul 09, 2019 8:33 amWent to the nest and took these photos of the eaglets last evening. Shortly after when sitting at home I saw one of the eaglets (the one on the right) fledge. It flew north for a little bit then flew back towards the tree. It may have landed on the other side of the tree but I couldn't see it. Pretty exciting!!

After the rain - hanging out on Pa's branch.

I love the side by side photo. The one on the right must have gotten wet, drying its wings.

Yes, lately they have been hanging together on Pa's favourite branch - maybe one day I can get a pic of all three of them on it!

Thanks for the pics, Eastvan Girl - beautiful eaglets Pa raised! I knew if anyone could do it, Pa could. He is one special eagle! Has always been my favorite! Right up there with Mom and Dad Sidney!

I am so glad everyone is enjoying the pics and updates about Pa's juniors. I feel happy and lucky to report on these two . I see them flying so often now it is wonderful. Pa has done a great job!

How wonderful that you're seeing them both flying, Eastvan Girl - I have to admit I had doubts this day would come, because it's not at all easy for a single adult to raise eaglets who are barely 2 weeks old - but Pa is great!

Yes it has been quite the season for dear old Pa. Seeing the eaglets flying has been great - they were flying together quite often - and it was great to watch them soar. But I have not seen them for a couple of days now - so I wondering what is up - I'll take a walk to the tree in a bit and see if they are there - perhaps just really camoflaged.

Well it has been a number of days now and I haven't seen or heard any of the eagles so I think they have left for good. Pa really did a great job - I can't wait to see him back at the nest - maybe with the new 'mystery' eagle as his partner.
