Re: Lafarge 2018/2019 Eagle Nest Discussion, Photos and Videos
I went by the nest today because when I looked from my window, something didn't look quite the same. Anyhow, I think the nest itself is fine but some of branches directly beneath it have broken off (maybe in the recent wind storm). The broken branches are hanging in the nearby maple tree. Both juniors were branching when I got there and I got a couple photos. I'll try to post those later on. Other than that all seemed fine.

Hi Everyone,
Well the mystery eagle was back again this afternoon at the nest. I was at the market shopping and I could hear eagles calling so I left the store and saw one eagle flying with food (a seagull I think) towards the nest, followed by another bald eagle. I walked over to the tree and both bald eagles were at the tree (the mystery eagle on the same branch as I saw before). Both juniors were very vocal and were eating whatever was brought to the nest. How exciting to see.

Thanks for checking, Eastvan Girl!
The mystery eagle appears to be harmless enough if she is just sitting on a branch. Maybe she is just letting Pa know she's available when the eaglets have fledged. As long as she keeps her distance from the eaglets (and I'm sure Pa will see to that!) it might be a good thing! I wonder if she is one of his former suitors (before Lady became his choice?) I wish we had a cam on them so we could check for a band or some ID marks!

That is great! A very active time now with both the Delta2 eaglets and the Surrey eaglets branching too! Can't keep up with them all!

A couple shots of Pa's young ones. They seem to like hanging out on Pa's favourite branch.

I feel very lucky to live so close to this eagle family, just to look out my window and see them at the nest is wonderful. It really is someting that these large, majestic birds can make their home in a busy city. I love the early morning when the city is quiet and I can hear the little ones in the early dawn.

Went to the nest and took these photos of the eaglets last evening. Shortly after when sitting at home I saw one of the eaglets (the one on the right) fledge. It flew north for a little bit then flew back towards the tree. It may have landed on the other side of the tree but I couldn't see it. Pretty exciting!!

That is so exciting! The Surrey and Delta eaglets also fledged within the last few days - busy times for eaglets in BC!
