Re: SW Florida Eagle Cam 2018~2019
I remember watching E9 hatching out of the egg on national news.
Found the SWFEC on the internet and decided to watch "the little guy" for a few days.
And look what happened!

Peggy180, Journi and eagleslanding - I am glad you enjoyed the video. I visited the nest again this morning and will have a video later.
eagleslanding, no one knows if "eggbert" is still in the nest, but very well could be. If it is, it is buried deep in the nest base. "eggbert" was the first egg laid in Season 5 (we know this because both eggs had distinctive markings). E9 was the second egg laid. All we know about the first egg/eggbert laid is that it never hatched and we can only guess why it was non-viable. The nest certainly holds many memories of seasons past.

Good evening everyone. I visited the nest earlier today.

The Nest Tree Stands Tall & Strong Through The Summer Storms 07-01-19
The summer storms were strong last week and I wanted to see how the nest, nest tree and pasture area fared. I was hoping that Harriet and /or M15 would be around too, but I never saw them. Remember this is the time of year when they have no obligation to the nest since there are no eaglets to care for. I did see a pair of mottled ducks, cattle egrets and Muscovy ducks. The nest and nest tree looked just as good as they did on my visit 2 weeks ago. The ponds have plenty of water but are not overflowing.

It was so good to see the nest tree and the pasture. Beautiful ducks. Looks like H & M offer short term rentals for other birds in the summer

A Mid July Nest Visit~Full Moon & Brilliant Sunrise But No Eagles Seen 07-16-19
Harriet & M15 were not seen in the nest area but it was a great morning to see the full 'thunder' moon and a brilliant sunrise. A Tricolored Heron and Muscovy Duck visited the pasture area briefly. A Great Blue Heron was fishing the runoff area behind the shopping center and snagged one of M15's 'famous' armored catfish. Yonder pond was a beautiful 'quiet' when we checked for H & M. In past seasons, as well as this season, I usually do not see our eagles from mid June to mid August.

In today's video (7/16/19) Vicki O pointed out to us that the OCT top branch is now gone.
Correction: Vicki O sent me a message that said:
"Hi Journi, it is the 'old' cam 2 tree branch that is gone. The OCT remains the same." - Thanks Vicki for the correction!
