continuing....
6:12 am
Delivery by Sur - it looks as if he's using both legs!
Though he might be using his "heel" here, as he turns
Definitely looking good!
Added -
Sur Delivers! (8 seconds)
North was pixelating, but I think I see a flounder in there.
Ess came down a few minutes later and was lurking with intent to steal, but as of 6:30, Dee was working on the tough fish.

Continuing....
At 6:39 am, Ess was very close to grabbing the fish, when Dee nipped at her and chased her back a step; a moment later, Sur arrived with what looked like another flounder, and Ess grabbed that one and demonstrated a nice mantle. Hmm - Ess seems to mantle more - is that because she's younger and more into protecting/hiding her food than in attacking those who want it?
Ess on left getting close
Sur quickly in and out, leaving food that's white on one side.
Ess hiding her food
video coming - it's a bit longer, 40 seconds, because it shows the interaction before the delivery, the very fast delivery, and a bit of mantling afterwards.
Added - Eaglets Interact + Delivery (40 seconds)
This was the best view I could get from the North cam - Sur was carrying the item in his left foot as he landed, and it looks like a flounder to me. (And I just realized the white things we were seeing earlier that looked a bit like fish heads might have been flounders showing their white side.)

Re: Surrey Reserve 2018-2019 Observation and Discussion
A minute or two after the second flounder arrived, Dee walked away from her partially finished fish (I think she agrees with you, Beth, that flounders are hard to handle!). Ess saw that, and did a very nice job of walking over to check it out carrying her flounder in one foot, and partially mantling. And that was from the North cam, and way too pixelated to get a video of it, I'm afraid.
As of 6:42 am, I'm not sure which fish Ess is eating, but she's in the part of the nest with both.
At 7:36 am, Ess, still carrying her flounder with one foot, moved away from the place Dee had been eating, and Dee went to look for scraps. Ess that appeared to leave her flounder (or what was left of it), and moved to another part of the nest, and Dee went over to investigate what Ess had left.
As of 7:48 (and a moment of semi-clarity on the North cam), it looked as if there was still a reasonable amount of meat on the piece Dee was eating, and Ess was resting on the nest.
Ess went back up to her perch on the branch at 8:05 am; Dee was perched on the edge of the nest.
It's now 8:17 am; I haven't seen any other visits. Ess is on her perch, Dee just checked out the leftovers, and is back on the side of the nest, and then did a flap-hop to the middle.
Off to reboot North and work on my backlog of videos.

Re: Surrey Reserve 2018-2019 Observation and Discussion
I've just added these videos to the appropriate posts -
From yesterday morning -
Sur Delivers (80 seconds)
Res Delivers (65 seconds)
From this morning -
Dee Climbs (2:30)
Sur Delivers! (8 seconds)
Eaglets Interact + Delivery (40 seconds)
It's now 9:01 am, and I've had the cams up with sound on, so even if I couldn't see them, I'm pretty sure that if an adult arrived, I would have heard them!

Good morning Ladies, Thank you all for the lovely video's, It almost looks like fish heads being delivered in the last ones?
Don't they look so proud sitting in the tree?
I hate to say this but I think they found a bunch of ducklings the other day, I'm pretty sure that's what they were, I had to look away as it was so sad in one way. (fluffy birds) That would answer why they brought so many at one time.
I have a broken blood vessel in my left eye making it hard for me to see properly, but I will try again today. Maybe I have been staring too hard at the pictures..lol
By the way, Great video's from all of you and thank you!

I suspect you’re right about the fluffy food items, Beth - and I also don’t focus on that aspect of how eaglets grow and learn.
And I hope your eye is better soon, and please do take care of yourself.
It’s now 10:24 am and I’ve been watching most of the time since my last post and haven’t seen any sign of a visit. Ess is on her perch and Dee is napping in the nest - and I’m out for a while.

Thanks, Judy, I am fine, just straining too much but enjoy it also.
I was just at the nest and they are both preening and exercising their gigantic wigs. When one starts the other one suffers..lol. they sure are big! Mom and dad look so small up against them now...lol.

Stealth visit by Mom Res - they didn't hear her until she landed.
She had something small in her beak, and was sort of reaching down to Dee when Ess reached over the top, and I think grabbed it. You can see the white stripe on Mom's back here.
My guess is that this is a small fish that the eaglet at the top is holding - though it looks as if she put it down afterwards.
Res Brings Lunch (1 minute, both cams)
Watching the dvr a couple more times (beyond what I recorded), Res may have brought more than one small item, and Ess may have swallowed the first one. Ess did set down what looked like a small fish, and went back to it a minute later and moved it - and stood over it briefly and may have eaten it, because I can't see it on the nest. Sorry I don't have a video of that part - but not much to see and spread over several minutes.
They did some flapping afterwards, and Ess got some height and partly landed on Dee for a change.

4:35 am Well I had a whole write up and videos and scaps ready to post and lost everything when I went to preview it and couldn't get it back. I don't know what I did. Grrrr! I will post the videos but I haven't got the patience to do the whole thing again.
I checked the DVR back to JudyB's post and found two feedings only. One at 8:44 pm and one at 8:47 pm Ess got the lion's share of both; however Dee did get some of each feeding.
Mom brings in a "messy" dinner again!
Dee gets there first but loses all but a small piece to Ess

Good morning, everyone! I've had that happen too, gemini - and it is very annoying! Sometimes I can get things back if I use the browser's back button then the forward button, or use the history menu - but lots of times that doesn't work.
7:50 am
I brought up the cams - and see what I found!
And then a minute or so later....
I didn't see a delivery while I was watching on my iPad earlier, but did notice Dee eating something after I'd stepped away for a few seconds, so maybe. And I've been away from the computer for a while. I'll do a quick review of the dvr, then reboot North which has a spinning circle, and maybe log in on South in case Ess decides to go up higher.

from the dvr....
One of the eaglets, I'm guessing Ess, went up to the perch at 4:45 am, as it was beginning to get light.
At 5:27 am, Dee went partway up then flew back down. I'm including this picture mostly because I love the morning light and the bit of fog.
Dee started eating leftovers after that. I had thought there might have been a delivery, but there wasn't. (There may have been one I missed, but it wasn't just before Dee started eating.)
Then, at 6:53 am, Dee flew to the halfway point on the slanted trunk and flap walked the rest of the way up to joint Ess for the first time I've observed.
She stayed up there briefly, then gracefully flew back down; her landing was better than Ess's first landing, probably because she's been doing more flap-hops across the nest.
video coming
