Good morning, everyone! I haven't checked the dvr but was watching for a while earlier and have some highlights.
5:00 am
I think this is Ess on the perch - she flap-walked up as I've seen her do before, and I don't see white on the tail of the chick in the nest.
5:07 am
Sur in with food; he appeared to be breathing hard, though the item was fairly small; Ess watched from her perch, but may not have wanted to try a fly-jump down with two large birds in the nest.
Added -
Sur Delivers (80 seconds)
Ess did a graceful flight down and pretty solid landing at 5:15 pm.
Ess Comes Down (5 seconds)
And Dee may not be using the high perch Ess likes yet, but she did find a new place to perch (very briefly!):
Dee's New Perch (24 seconds)

Ess was back up on the perch, and back down again.
There was another food delivery at 7:16, I think by Res, and I think Ess got it, along with Mom's foot initially.
Added -
Res Delivers (65 seconds)
Delivery looked like a flounder.
And I have some things I need to do - will get back when I can.

9:00 am
Ess has been spending a lot of time on her perch this morning, mostly on the bump, but she was up higher for a little while. And of course I can't find that quickly to post a screenshot. So here's where she is now.
I should be back sometime this afternoon.
And North just started buffering, so I'll reboot that before I go.

Good morning everyone Well I am a sleepy head this morning..just got up a while ago.
Judy, those were good videos and ty..Dee sure knows how to bug Ess..lol.
I can't believe the way they puff up and spread their wings to protect what the parents bring to them. They look huge next to Res and Sur. I'd be scared to land in that nest too. lol.
Take it easy this morning Judy and see you when you get back.

Re: Surrey Reserve 2018-2019 Observation and Discussion
Hi everyone!
5:35 am
Ess is up on her perch, and has been much of the afternoon, though she also had a nap in the nest with Dee. I took a quick look back through the dvr and didn't see any adult visits after the ones I reported this morning - though it was a quick look, so I may easily have missed something.
Ess is seeming comfortable on her perch - I saw her standing on one leg and scratching her face, and she just did a bit of flapping.
I do still have the videos from this morning to process - but it's getting late and I've had a long day so I'm going to say goodnight now. Tomorrow is supposed to be rainy so I should be hanging around the house and have a chance to get caught up.
And Ess just did a little hop-flap on her perch, then a sideways walk up higher.
And back to her usual spot. And a very graceful flight down and graceful landing on the nest - she's getting really good at the dismount!
North was pixelated so I rebooted it after a quick look back - which means the dvr should be easier to use for looking for visits this evening. And I really must go.

5:15 pm Just did a quick review of the DVR. I went back to 8:00 am this morning.
The first visit I saw was at 11:04 when Res came in with a small something. As Ess was still up the tree branching Dee got the food item. She downed it in one swallow so it wasn't very much. Ess didn't try to come down even though she had plenty of warning that Res was coming. (You could hear her squealing as Res approached!)
The next drop off was at 11:15 am and again Ess chose to not come down so Dee again got whatever Res brought in and again it was small enough for Dee to gulp down in one bite.
At 11:20 am Ess came down from her perch on the branch and had a look for leftovers but she left it too long - Dee had long since made short work of anything that may have been edible. So a nap was the next choice.
At 1:50 pm Ess went back up to her perch on the branch and has been there ever since. It is now 5:32 pm During all the time that Ess was up the tree Dee spent her time grazing for leftovers, flap hopping and wingercising, napping and calling for a parent to bring in something to eat.
Who got what!
Update: Boy was I wrong about who got what! It turns out Dee didn't like what came in first so she sat on it. She checked it out a couple of times but no, it wasn't to her liking. Ess didn't come down from her perch. When the second delivery came Dee ate it in one gulp and retired to the back of the nest after checking out the fish one more time and still turning it down. Ess came down from branching, a few minutes later, checked out the fish which was to her liking (she's not so fussy!) and she ate it all up while Dee watched from the sidelines with no complaints.
Now either Dee was being generous to her sister and was saving the fish for her or she just plain doesn't like bullheads! yuk!
Going to check the rest of the DVR.
No further deliveries that I could see! Will check the DVR again when I get back later this evening.
A new hiding place for Dee! (She's behind the tree trunk, this is Ess standing there!)

1:30 am A quick report as it's late and I'm tired:
Went back to 6:00 pm on the DVR and there was one quick visit at 8:30 when Res brought in something and Ess pounced on it. Mom flew immediately.
However she came back a few minutes later with something huge. Ess grabbed this item too. (Click bigger)
Mom had a piece which she ate offering bites to Ess. Dee who also had a small piece tried her best to get in on the feeding from Mom after she finished her piece but Ess was having none of it. Ess got pretty well most of the food item and ate continually for over 20 minutes. Res left after she finished the piece she had and Dee gave up and retired to he side rail.
All three get a piece (Dee's is small though)
North cam is pixelating badly - this is the best scap I could get of the prey.

Good morning, everyone, and thanks, gemini, Beth, Bev, nightowl and Marg, for your reports! It sounds as if both eaglets eventually had plenty to eat.
I saw a couple of quick visits at 6:12 and 6:39, but I'm going to check the dvr before documenting them.
Back in a few minutes....
Looking quickly through the night on the South cam, it looks as if both eaglets spent a good part of the night sleeping standing up like adults usually do, though the one on the far side moved to the nest bowl to lie down around 2:30 am. I suspect that was Ess - Dee seems to like the side nearer the South cam - and I think Dee spent more time during the day lying in the nest while Ess was on the perch. But that's a guess.
Both eaglets were up and looking around by 4:28, which is probably when it was starting to get light for eaglets, who have better eyesight than we do - it looked slightly light to me a few minutes later. And far-side eaglet went back to lie down for a while - I can relate to that!
By 4:51, at least one of the eaglets (maybe Dee) was calling for food.
By 5:19, Ess was up on her perch, and Dee was lying down. Ess had gone partway up and turned and jump-glided back earlier.
At 5:32, Dee got up and tried going up the trunk toward's Ess; it's interesting - when Ess does that, she seems sure-footed, though she does flap to help her upward motion - but Dee seems to slide backwards a bit with each step. I don't know if Dee hasn't figured where/how to grip, or if it's a case of "she who hesitates is lost" and Ess is successful because she keeps moving? And Dee may never get up there by walking - but I'm pretty sure she will be the first one to get there (or to the little perch or another higher location) by flying.
5:42, Dee is making progress with the slanted trunk - time for a quick recording. This has two attempts; she also did a third, similar to the second, with a graceful gliding leap back to the nest.
Dee Climbs (2:30)
