Good morning everyone. Judy, enjoy your day away.

I went back and checked on that last piece of food, I can't for the life of me figure out what it could have been but I am glad they enjoyed it..lol. It's getting harder and harder to catch the parent in the nest lately. I will be having the kids over later so will be away most of the day. Sure is cool and windy out today.

Morning Bev, I was wondering what those bones might have been from? They seemed quite long. It did keep them busy for quite some time. Thank you for the pictures of it.

A quick delivery by Mom of a grey squirrel at 8:34 am - Ess claims the prize While Dee looks on.

:vid: Ess to the table first (:27)

Ess works on the food item dragging it from one end of the nest to the other while Dee looks on enviously. Eventually the inevitable happens and the squirrel remains get stuck on a branch and while Ess is taking a break from trying to free it, Dee makes her move!

Ess doesn't complain too much after having worked on it herself for over an hour and Dee gets a go. She works on it for a while eventually downing the whole thing, fur and all in one go! I thought she was going to choke on it at one point!

Earlier this morning, feeling a little peckish, after their somewhat miserly and dubious breakfas, Ess thinks Dee is hiding something under her and decides to have a look. But Dee is having nothing to do with it - what follows is fun to watch as they square off with one another - pecking, biting and even wing wrestling takes place!

And at 11:52 another delivery by Mom - I wasn't sure who brought or got what at first so went to the south cam to check. Ess got the fish and protected it with a beautiful mantle

:vid: A fish for Ess (1:07)

Ess's beautiful mantle and Mom's very dirty tail - but no spot in the right place and you can see her white stripes.

And yet another delivery from Mom at 1:42 pm. Ess got it again

I'm not sure what she brought, but I think it had legs, and I think Dee got it.

It's not that late here, but it was a busy (and fun) day, and I think I need to lie down and read for a while. See you in the morning!

6:00 pm Parent (not sure which one) came in with another fish and Ess out maneuvers Dee for it. I do hope Dee gets the next delivery if there is one!

:vid: Ess gets this one too! (1:13)

Update: Just checked the south cam and it was Mom that delivered the 6:00 pm fish. She has been a very busy girl today! Making up for lost time maybe!

Another update: After watching the replay a couple of times, I now think it was a small rodent of some kind and not a fish!

What do you think?/

Checked the DVR and I couldn't see any visits after the 6:00 pm delivery. But I could have missed one.

Good morning, everyone!

Dee is 10 weeks old today - and technically could fledge at any time, though I don't expect to see that for a week or two - but I do agree with Bev that they could start branching at any time - I've seen them jump on the bottom of the tree trunk leading to the little perch where the parents go - and I think I've seen them looking at that little branch with interest and intent!

I have a couple of earlier visits to look up and report, at 5:49 am and at 6:37 am, but I just got to the computer and there's a lot going on.

The first thing I noticed is that the adult on the nest was limping more than Mom Res has been lately - and I've just had a look at the tail - and I'm thinking this is Sur on the nest with a sore right leg. There seems to be a fairly intact large bird carcass on the nest - maybe a young seagull, and also what I think is a chunk of fish. I'm definitely seeing the dark spot on Sur's tail as he moves around - and he's definitely having real trouble with his right leg. Sur was eating some of the fish, and occasionally feeding one of the eaglets if they were nearby - and he just took the seagull body away from one of the eaglets - and after a bit the eaglet took it back. Sur flew off at 8:16, and now one of the eaglets is working on the piece of fish and the other is working on the seagull.

I need to look back, but I was thinking the visits I saw yesterday were mostly/all? Res - which might mean Sur hurt his leg yesterday, and is now able to use it a bit, but is hungry - which is why he was eating the food on the nest. I think I'm going to go back to first light and see what we have for visits before documenting this one in detail.
