Continuing....

I am wondering what is up with Res's feathers - her wing tips seem a bit messy.

And I think this is Ess on the tree trunk - maybe a pre-branching move?

And it's hard to be sure who is who, but one of the eaglets got more of the food this time.

4:16 pm - nice to see Res on the nest.

And she's off.

And a minute or two later - here's Sur!

Continuing....

It looks as if the same chick is getting food from him (though I know both have had quite a bit of food today)
20190616_040.jpg

And then the other eaglet hops to the feeding area....

But unfortunately Sur left before Ess (I think) got anything from this feeding.

It is Dee's hatch day, so maybe Ess was staying back as a bit of a gift - but somehow I think it's more likely that Ess was full from a previous feeding!

5:36 pm
Sur was in with a bit of something, which Dee (I think) grabbed.

Then Sur started working on leftover, and continuing to feed Dee - I know it's his/her hatch day, but I'm always rooting for the underdog, and think it's time Ess got some too - though I know Ess has to go for it.

And here comes Ess, and s/he got a bite, but most of the food seems to be gone.
20190616_045.jpg

And Dee is doing more grabbing when Sur finds something - though both eaglets have had lots of food today.

Sur flew off at 5:41 pm. Dee had something s/he had grabbed that s/he was working on - and Ess was checking the nest for leftovers.

7:29 pm Went back to the last post and couldn't see anything until a quick visit from Sur at 7:07 pm. He dropped off a fish which I believe Ess managed to get to first. Sur left a minute later at 7:08 pm.

:vid: Ess gets a bedtime snack!

Dee contemplates stealing but Ess is aware and keeping an eye out!

12:48 am Going back on the DVR to my last post, all was quiet until Sur flew in at 9:44 pm with something large – it must have been heavy as he had to rest a few minutes before he started feeding the kids. Ess received the first couple of bites but it looked to me like he was just trying to entice Dee, who was hanging back, to the table. Once Dee came forward it was all Dee except for what Ess was able to sneak from between Dad’s talons.

After several tries at a steal, Ess gave a mighty tug and managed to break off a large chunk which he promptly moved to the side. At this point Mom joined the party and took over feeding duties. Sur then left. The rest of the feeding was more equitable with Dee getting the lion’s share but Ess getting more than enough. The meal ended at 10:01 pm when Mom flew to her perch. She tried to turn around on the perch but couldn’t quite make it so she left. Perhaps if she had been successful she would have stayed!

:vid: A late evening diner served up by both Mom and Dad! (3:46)

10:08 am Went through the DVR bact to Bev's post on both cams a couple of times each but didn't see any visit from a parent. (although I could have missed one!)

Both eaglets have been cruising the nest for leftovers. Now they are on the lookout.

Good morning everyone!

I also checked the dvr from first light until nine am and didn’t see any visits. There was one very quick visit between then and a few minutes ago - I wrote the time down but don’t have it with me. Not sure which adult and the delivery was something small - I think fish or maybe a mouse. Need to check the dvr but I think Ess got it and carried it to the edge of the nest and set it down. I was busy with other things so don’t know if either of them ended up eating it.

Good morning everyone, Bev, I loved the video of both mom and dad feeding the chicks, I am still so happy to see Res come to the nest and looking better. I went back but was not able to catch mom or dad at the nest this morning. Earlier the site was down for me so I had to wit for quite a while to get on here. Yes, Sur sure did look like he was tired after that catch.

Do you know if they pick up road kill?

I am off to the doctors today so will check back in later.

bye for now.

Wow! Even with knowing the approximate time of Sur's visit, (thanks, Judy) it took me forever to find it on the DVR!

10:50 am Sur pops in with a quick delivery of something small. I believe it was Dee that got it! White on tail of eaglet lying down.

12:39 pm Res in with a fish. Ess was fed first but Dee got his/her licks in at the end with lots of bite. Feeding lasted until12:53. Mom was walking with a limp still but she is at least putting her full weight on it. So good to see her doing so well!

Mom in with a fish (you can't tell by the scap but there was no prep time and it was wiggling when she put it down.)
