Look at those big feet! It's quite windy at the nest.

Today's early morning visit at 5:05 am

Sur arrives with breakfast
:vid: Ess claims the prize! (:50)

Ess feeds for about 15 minutes then makes a mistake by scratching h/h self!
:vid: Dee sees h/h chance! (:42)

4:32 Sur in quickly at 4:19 pm with something - couldn't tell what it was - Ess again claimed it as h/h. Let Dee know in no uncertain terms h/s wasn't sharing!

:vid: Ess takes charge again (1:39)

I think I have just enough time to reboot the north cam - it's pixelating badly! Done!

Forgot to mention - checked the DVR and this was the only visit recorded since Bev's last report.

4:44 pm Went to check on the North cam and Sur arrived with a fish. he was gone in seconds. Sorry can't report any more!

Good afternoon, and thank you all for the reports!

Looking back on the dvr....

Sur arrived on the nest with something at about 4:18 pm; the chicks rushed him and one of them grabbed it - looks like Ess though I can't be sure - it's the chick on the left that has it. Dee(?) tried to approach a couple of times, then backed off.

Sur was back with a live whole small fish at 4:46 pm; I think it was again Ess who got it.

Ess, the younger chick with the white tips on the tail feathers, moved the fish nearer Dee (I think that was unintentional - Ess was looking for a place to eat it, and happened to head where Dee was standing) - and it looked to me as if Dee went for it and pecked at Ess and put Ess into submission - which is something I haven't seen in a while.

And then Dee took the fish. Dee was working on it for a while, and both were looking around some, then Dee went back to eating, and I think finished the fish - so I think they each had one, though they weren't huge fish.

It's now 6:41 pm, and I didn't see any additional visits.

The eaglets are really getting big, and their wing feathers are getting longer.

Dee is 8 weeks old today, and Ess will be 8 weeks old tomorrow.

Thanks, Judy, I went back and caught a glimpse of ur bringing a fish, your right it wasn't too big. I am curious as to when the eaglets fly on their own, do they leave the nest with or without a parent? They sure do have a large wing span.. Lovely to see. :)

Good morning, everyone!

Sur was in with something around 4:50 am - not sure what, but I think I saw a leg, so not a fish - maybe mouse or small bird. Dee got it and was working on it for while and it 5:20 it looked as if Ess was working on something so they may have switched at some point.

It's now 5:37 am and I haven't seen any other visits since Bev's post.

Beth, the eaglets will probably fledge between 10 and 14 weeks (11-12 weeks is most common), and I'm not sure how much we'll see them after that. Delta 2 fledglings typically spend time coming and going from the nest for at least a couple of weeks, but some of the Harrison Mills fledglings moved nearer the river where their parents typically perched, and didn't return very often.

Since there are two eaglets here, the first to fledge will almost certainly follow the parent to the nest for food - and my guess is that both will be fed on the nest for a while. When they leave, they leave on their own, and the parents may do a bit of work on the nest before heading off themselves. Fledglings generally go to where the salmon are running, so they can feed on the dead salmon - and there are lot of eagles there for them to learn from.

I'm off for a while = have a good day, everyone.

Good morning Judy and thank you for the information. I haven't been lucky enough to see them bring food this morning but will keep an eye out, will be busy later. Off to take a peek now.
