Good afternoon! I found a post from about an hour ago on the Raptor Resource Project Facebook page saying that D32 was found last evening and is in the care of a veterinarian specializing in raptors. His/her general condition sounds similar to D33 and DN9 from Decorah North, and I’m hoping all three will do well with care.

I’m on my phone and not good at posting links or copying things - but the update is on FB and probably the RRP website.

Thank you so very much for the update, Judy B. It's been quite stressful with these little ones leaving the nest so soon. It's so good that the Decorahs are in good hands but I sure do miss them. Praying for a good recovery for all of them. Hello and Bonjour to everyone.

Thanks Judy for the update. Here is what RRP posted on their FB site with a picture
Update: Decorah Hatchery Nest eaglet D32

D32 was located yesterday evening in Trout Run Creek by a couple of local residents. The eagle was located tucked in along a bank downstream from the Decorah Hatchery nest. It was in rough shape, and the residents informed the DNR Hatchery personnel, who then retrieved it from the creek, and placed him/her in a “turkey box”, shown in the picture attached here. The hatchery staff notified RRP, and we quickly set a plan in motion to get D32 the care it needed. Our Bald Eagle expert and board member Brett Mandernack, and our Vice President Laura Johnson, a veterinarian doctor specializing in raptor care, were consulted quickly, and a plan was enacted to get D32 to Laura, about an hour away, for immediate assessment and care.

Once transferred to Laura, D32 was found to be weak, a bit hypothermic, underweight, and showed signs of anemia with many black fly bites. Laura administered fluids and electrolytes upon arrival and repeated the treatments overnight. This morning, Laura was able to get D32 to eat some venison dipped in electrolytes and will continue to try to feed D32 every few hours.

Laura will continue to monitor and care for D32 while we await further updates. When we have new information, we will share that with you, but please understand that the care of the eagles comes first and we may not have continuous updates.

We would like to thank the local residents who found D32 and acted quickly to get help, everyone at RRP working nonstop to search for, capture, transport and help the eagles in every way possible, and BIG THANKS to the Decorah Chuck Gipp Fish Hatchery staff and management for their continued support of our recent bald eagle monitoring and recovery efforts and the wildlife surrounding them.

Good night/morning everyone, bonjour Bev, Elaine, Jwin, Sunnybird, Marianne, Judy, Kimf, …!
:woohoo: that was the news i was waiting for ! Thanks to all for relaying them :woohoo:
I am not suprised that D32 was in the same status than D33 and DN9 and sure was "luckier" may be "more Lucky" like D32 was hidden.
D32, D33 and DN9 in the same battle now :luck: :rh:
Sad for Decorah's (and North) parents but i can't forget the other nests around in the area and those, will receive no help this season... :cry1:

Good morning and Bonjour everyone, Philjo, I was thinking the same thing yesterday. It's so very sad to think of all the unknown eaglets out there that are going through the same thing and are not being helped. Thank you for your pictures.

Good Early Sunday Morning to all.
Bonjour Philjo.
When you think about all the people that assisted with the search, rescue and recovery of D32, D33, and D9 it is amazing.
A miracle. These 3 fledglings are in the best of hands and will get the best care. :thumlft:
I will "perch" here for updates.
Thank you all for your posts and prompt updates.

You're welcome Elaine…

Good afternoon. Philjo , Elaine, Judy, Marianne , jwin . Sunny.. Kmif , Heather and Thanks Marianne for you PM! :grhug:

Update and thanks Heather for the head ups D 32 is now at Soar
Updates & Our Thanks
!
:rh:

Decorah Eaglet D32: Is now a patient at SOAR. After the immediate acute care under the loving assist from RRP Director and Veterinarian Dr. Laura Johnson, D32 was transported by SOAR personnel late last evening for admittance, evaluation, examination, and treatment. We will know more about his/her condition as the skilled team there updates us and we will share those results with you.

The past week has been very stressful and fraught with worry for all of us at RRP and all of you at both our Decorah Eagles hatchery site and at the Decorah North Nest after the eaglets recent flight, fall, or accidental fledges from the nests, and the ensuing efforts of multiple volunteers, personnel, and agencies focused on searches and recovery efforts. We'll eventually have a very long post naming names of folks who have gone above and beyond the call of duty in their care and compassion during these disastrous events, but suffice it to say that "it really does take a village!" We add to that list all of you faithful followers of our nests who have shown your own caring and compassionate hearts with thoughtful notes and donations to RRP and to SOAR. You may have noticed that our Facebook Mods were frantically trying to keep up with all the comments that have been coming in, but you might be surprised that just one post yesterday on D32 being found generated over 2,400 comments, 1,600+ shares, and reached 316,782+ fans of the page. We mention this because it proves how deep the love is for wildlife in peril and also because as much as we were inundated keeping up, Facebook saw all of our *likes* to your posts as 'spam' and blocked us in a time out. Please be aware that despite our recognition at the time, each and every comment was read, and questions answered to the best of our ability, and you have kept us buoyed during our own despair. We have hope now, and while there might still be some questions we can't answer we will do our best to try. Thank you ALL so very much from ALL of us at RRP.

Keeping good thoughts and praying that D32 and D33 will heal and be released wen they are well...... they are getting the best of care !

As for Mom and DM2... You raised two beautiful eaglets and sad that all this happened to them... it was out of your control.. thinking of both of you :rh: :rh
