Notre Dame Cam, SouthBend, IN - 2018
HWF welcomes the Notre Dame-LEEF cam for it's first year of coverage here on our forum.

This live Web camera is providing a look at the nest of two bald eagles in Northern Indiana. The cam is located in St. Patrick's county Park in South Bend, Indiana. The 8 foot by 3 foot nest is located high in a large sycamore tree in a part of the park that is used for research.
A view from the original cam of the tree and the nest---
The University of Notre Dame has launched a new “eagle cam” that’s providing a much-improved, overhead view of the bald eagles in their nest. Installed in Fall 2017, the live, in-nest camera is mounted above the bald eagle nest; therefore viewers can now watch the nest being built, eggs being laid and incubated, and the eaglets as they hatch and reach the fledging stage! Online at ndleef.nd.edu, the new streaming cam runs in tandem with a prior eagle cam which had much of this action obscured by leaves. The older cam was installed in 2015. The university used a tall crane to carefully install the new camera 8 feet above the nest after this year’s juvenile left in mid-August.
What you see from the second, new cam--- ..

Some nest history ~~~
In the spring of 2015, two bald eagles took over an existing red-tailed hawk nest at the Notre Dame Linked Experimental Ecosystem Facility (ND-LEEF) at St. Patrick's County Park and fledged one eaglet. These eagles at ND-LEEF, as well as a pair from Potato Creek State Park, were the first successful bald eagle nests ever recorded in St. Joseph County.
The adult pair of eagles returned again to build up their nest in the winters of 2016 and again for 2017. They have since returned once again for the 2018 season. (one eaglet hatched) and 2017 (two eaglets hatched).
The adult eagles have hatched and raised three eaglets from that nest over the past three years, one per year. In 2015 one eaglet fledged -- in 2016 they also fledged one eaglet -- in 2017 two eaglets hatched but only one fledged.
