4:44 pm - not sure what this look was about from Starr...couldn't tell if Joy was biting her toes or what.

4:44 pm Starr feeding Joy and an oops happened. Looked as if Joy got a hold of Starr's beak. Ouch. What a look on poor Starr.

Update from the Stewards:
At 3:22 this afternoon E2 was making a running approach to land on the limb with E1. In so doing he/she caught E3 off guard and knocked him over the edge of the nest. We have located E3 and all is well though he won't be quickly flying back to the nest. He is safe and Starr is watching over. I will update further when we get back in. Bonnie

4:42 pm - I didn't get a chance to post these earlier but Harmony was up further in the attic and then tried to go even further and Starr was watching the whole time, making sure everything was okay.

4:46 pm looks like Starr is a little hesitant about feeding Joy right now. She kinda of holds back. If I am remembering correctly, I think it was Joy who bit Starr's beak once before. Anyway, Harmony flies down form the attic.

Glad you posted those as I held my breath again when Harmony moved around that branch. What an afternoon!

4:59 pm don't think Starr fed Joy any more, as Harmony pulls the food away. After a bit, Harmony is back on the branch. Starr and Joy keep looking over the side of the nest? Hmmmm?

5:13 pm Starr continues to look over the edge of the nest. Yup, she knows where her #3 is.

4:35 pm Sue, I got some s'caps of adult flying too. So all is going to be well. Is it my imagination or does Harmony keep looking down?

Sorry Sandy, I missed this one...yes, I thought 'he' was looking down quite a bit and didn't even come down right away when Starr was feeding because I think he misses his buddy Peace. Great captures of the adult flying by...they were so close.

Update from the Stewards:
Ed Button, District Manager, Savanna, IL District USFWS and Nate Williams, Wildlife Refuge Specialist met us at the nest area within twenty minutes of E3 going over the nest. Larry and I were scanning with binoculars while the guys were getting on waders and considering trying to work their way back. We spotted a truck with Bass boat in tow and asked Ed if it might be better to seek their assistance. :-) Huge THANK YOU to Bass fishermen Dr. Robert Merkin (a veterinarian) and Don May (Don heard about the two males and a female on the news). Doc took Ed and Nate right in under the nest tree where they spotted E3. E3 was wet indicating he made it down to the water but had already worked his way up six or eight feet. Like a normal Eagle he had his wings hanging out to dry. The eaglet will be fed by the adults - Starr is no stranger to an early albeit in this case unintended fledge. The eaglet has better skills and instincts than many gave him credit for. If he made six to eight feet up out of the water in such short time, he could indeed make an eventual return to the nest. HUGE THANK YOU TO ED, NATE, LARRY, DON and DOC! Bonnie

Way to go, Peace! You can do it! And as mentioned, Starr and the Valors are not strangers to an early fledge (uintended or accidential or fludge). So they got this!

Oh Sandy, that is so great to hear! We knew that Peace was strong but totally did not even think about h/h being in the water. That could be exhausting but s/he made it out. So thankful to everyone that was involved with looking for Peace and being able to find h/h. If it was meant to happen, today was the day for it to happen with so many people already out there. I’m sure we will see Peace back on the nest at some point. Could take a little bit of time though.

Sue, I have often wondered how far the nest tree hangs over the water and if in fact it does. But now it is a mute point with all the flooding. I am proud Peace is on the move. Gotta say though that little one has already had a first trip to the pond for a bath. Oh the adventure!

It's been a very exhausting day keeping up with all the 'firsts' for our little Trio....Joy going up to the attic for the first time, and then coming down.....Harmony is such a pro at that right now.....Peace, accidentally fledging....oh boy! Who would have known that the youngest would be the first one off? But we know that Peace is doing well...just spending the night without her pals Harmony & Joy. Starr and both of the Valors are taking good care of Peace....and who knows, maybe one of them is spending the night with Peace.

Sweet Eagle Dreams to our little Trio! Hope to see you on the nest again soon Peace!

Good morning, Philippe, Sue, Kim, Rainna and all Trio lovers. Appreciate you checking in, Philippe. Oh my goodness, you have had a week with your nest following. Thank you, Sue, for the lovely closing for yesterday's events. It is definitely one of those times as eagle watchers we have to think in terms of trusting the eagles and work to stay out of the worry zone. Hopefully, today we will see our strong Peace make it back to the nest.

5:17 am Harmony up on the attic branch with Joy on the rail. At least I think this is where they are as the resolution is rather dark.
2019-06-07_5-15-45.jpg
5:18 am got a glimpse of the tail and it was Joy up on the attic branch as Joy comes down.
