1- Picture of Eagle Nest 3 blocks from my house from 2017 season
2- Turkey visiting the "cats in the window" from fall of 2017
3 - Osprey visit this spring on the raised bed garden, came in for it's close-up! What a treat that
was, right in my back yard!
Just to mention, lots of activity at the eagles nest right now. Dennis and I were watching two weeks ago and it had what I suspect due to it's size a very large female intruder and it's mate try and seize the nest from the local pair. I have to wonder if the nest female is laying on eggs because she stayed right in the nest, while her mate spared with the male intruder, then to add to it, a juvie arrived and joined in chasing the male intruder away, hum maybe a previous family member? We do have many eagles stay year around in this area due to the Fox River never freezing over, this is an active area for the eagle population. Both local male and juvie had to come back around and chase the very large female off the top of the tree branch and it took about 3 swipes at her to get her to leave! Was such a thrilling moment and many pictures are still on my cell phone. When it was all done both the local male and juvie flew right over the top of us. We were across the street in a business parking lot with the scope on the tri-pod viewing this entire event. The local pair have been in this nest for over 5 years now and are successful at raising 2 or 3 offsprings! What a treat this day held for us.
Opps, don't know what happened with the Osprey Pic??

Re: Practice Thread
How big is this picture? Seems to take it....... Ma or Pa in the nest!
Re: Practice Thread
It's almost 2 MB, Marg. If you edit your post and click the attachment tab, it will show you the size of the attached image:
And I just noticed when I was adding the image above, it shows you the size as soon as you've added it.

Re: Practice Thread
Thanks Judy I did see that and it took it so I assume it's o.k. still don't know the pixels.....
I've also seen a green "tick".
Re: Practice Thread
I'm guessing it's 4000x3000, Marg - it's much bigger than will fit on my monitor, which is 1920x1080.
That's the size my camera takes before I reduce them.

Re: Practice Thread
I guess then that every picture I take I will need to reduce the size even if the forum took the picture.....why would it accept the picture? If I take a screenshot of the HWF cams I can post those with no problem.....
Added: I have checked with other ground obs. pictures and they seem similar to the ones I've posted.
Re: Practice Thread
It's not required that you make your pictures smaller, Marg - after hearing from some of the ground observers, we raised the size limits so you and the other photographers could post pictures like that without editing them.
We also suggest that when there's time and if folks have editing software, making the images somewhat smaller - like 2000x1500 pixels - will produce a picture that's at least full screen on most monitors, and save quite a bit of space on the giant hard drives where the forum lives.
The old forum had something that did that automatically, and we may add something similar here eventually - but for now we're trying to make sure everyone can share their photos with as little hassle as possible.
