Arconic eagle cam in Davenport Iowa which is just south of the decorah eagles along the mississippi river is still flooded. The cams are out. The water is now up to the nest with 5 week old eaglets in the nest. Pray no more rain comes. I wrote that alot of the town of davenport is flooded to as thier levee broke away. Really a sad situation. 2 weeks ago they only had 4-6 feet of water in the nest.

Sorry meant to say 4-6 feet of water below the nest. And not IN the nest.

Philjo - have a good vacation.

Eagleslanding - so sorry to hear about the Davenport nest. I sure hope the water recedes there soon, for the eaglets, wildlife, the people and the town. Such a bad situation.

In eagle country cam,,Dandy fludged at 71 days old. Wasn’t flapping, just stayed on the ground, but s/he didn’t look injured... finally s/he reached a branch on another tree. It’s great s/he left the ground.

Beautiful pictures of Bear Lake area snow. It is over 6000 feet in that area. So that is your California Mountain snow up high in the elevations moving through. Whereas nearby Los Angeles at a much lower elevation was in the 60's and received no snow. You should vacation at Bear Lake. You would love the natural beauty California has to offer. More mountain snow to come. Ca. gets feet and feet and feet and feet of mountain snow.

Where the trio's nest is and near decorah nest is near and arconic davenport iowa eagles nest is. The Mississippi river is still flooded. The river traffic at a stand still. No ship traffic allowed through. Locks and dams closed. This will go clear down to the gulf of Mexico on the Mississippi. I am sure there are eagles nests all up and down the Mississippi river. What I would like to know Mr. Hancock is as in the case of Davenport Iowa being underwater flooded. And the Arconic eagles nest flooded all around the nest. Where are the eagles getting their ground food from. The squirrels or possums. How far are they having to go for different foods. Or are they all forced into eating fish due to no ground near the nest. Will the arconic eaglets be able to fledge safely in high water around the nest. Just interested and looking for answers. Thank you Mr.
Hancock. How is this flooding affecting the Mississippi river eagles?

hi eagleslanding

I can see that at Decorah the eagles are doing fine. I guess that with floods it's more difficult to find preys and fishes, maybe scavengers... I hope they're doing fine.

in Norway food can be scarce too. we had 24 hours between 2 feedings for the second eaglet.
But now he looks fine and the best is that he's catching up on his sibling :rh:
