I was reading the iws chat and they mentioned the banding sequence several times. orange on left= Lady( female) and quoted Dr. Sharpe saying males are always right so orange on right= male.
#1 A55 male
#2 A45 male
#3 A34 female
It will definitely be interesting to see how much #3 grows and if she starts to show dominance over her brothers

2 bros are lucky their sis is not like a human who would probably give them payback LOL ;)

Good morning!
They are staying close to each other tonight. They look fine but were all awake and fidgety when I checked on them.
Hopefully they will have forgotten about yesterday when they get up and about.

Good Morning everyone, I just wanted to let you know that the kids could be banded today.
Maybe that means they should have names? I think they should anyhow :-)
IWS's major fundraising drive is the nest adoption challenge - there's a link in the featured comments on their live cams page http://iws.org/livecams.html. One of the prizes you can win is the opportunity to name a chick. There's also an option to make a larger donation (maybe $1000?) to name the chick (or unnamed adult) of your choice. Observers often have nicknames for the chicks - but their official names will be chosen by those who either adopt them or donate to the nest adoption challenge and have their name drawn for that prize.

Admin note - it's our policy to not publicize fundraisers for other organizations that are not affiliated with us, no matter how worthy they are - we rely of the support of our members to keep our cameras streaming and our forum and website online, and really would like our members to donate to the cameras or our internet costs for the forum. I do feel it's appropriate to answer questions when I can - which is what I'm doing here. :)

Thanks Judy. Thank you for the information. All nests need help with their funding so that we can enjoy these magnificent raptors.

Thank you Judy, I was not aware of the naming process. I am usually on this forum only. I just wish all the raptor organizations were well funded.

Hello Everyone, They sure seem to be doing just fine today after their experience from yesterday. I love to hear them when a parent comes in with food.

You're welcome, Marianne, jwin, and Marti! I've been watching the IWS cams since around the time Cruz fledged - so almost as long as I've been watching the cams here. And I agree it would be great if all of the organizations that do this kind of work had funds enough to do the things they'd like to do to protect and promote the eagles and other wildlife.

And while I'm here - thank you all for your reports and observations! I don't get to watch that often (so many cams, so little time) - but it's really exciting to know that the first chick to hatch in the wild on Santa Cruz in 49 years (Cruz in 2006) is now raising her own chicks and continuing the dynasty - and to be able to come here and see how she and Spirit (whom I also watched as a chick) are doing. Thank you.

All is normal. I haven't seen a parent on the nest yet but there has been food brought in so they are nearby. Just my bad timing.

Milling around the food
Last night I watched them eating and saw our little girl steal several bites of food from her older brother's beak. I was very impressed with her stealing skills. :mihihi: He was hogging the food and she just went up to him and grabbed big pieces right out of his beak. :thumlft: I am glad to see this aggressive behavior.

Just thought of some names for the 3 young: how about Buster, Buddy, and Beauty?

Hi Marti, Kitcat and everyone else.
Your names are cute, Marti, and our little lady is tough.
Lots of squeeing and eating going on on this lovely day.

Good afternoon everyone, I couldn't watch this morning so I scrubbed back to take the video. I have no idea why it says Decorah on the cam. :puzz:

Guess I haven’t been watching close enough so just noticed the white tips starting on some wing feathers and tail feathers of the young. Kids grow up so fast nowadays LOL
