Good Morning everyone, I just wanted to let you know that the kids could be banded today.

Maybe that means they should have names? I think they should anyhow :-)

Hi,
Yes they are banding today. Sauces first then Fraser.
Marti, the eaglets do get names but I don't know how. Maybe at the IWS site it will be explained.
The camera at Sauces is on and off, but Fraser should be fine to watch the banding.

Jwin, MJN and elaine, hope y’all are watching. Dr. Sharpe and Nate are banding the eaglets now. Looks like #3 is first up.

I got one Jwin. I thought I had better take a video just in case anyone missed it. It's quite long.

You can just scroll back on the live feed up to 4 hours earlier - I think the vid was something like 12 - 1 Pacific time. Interesting :)

Ironic that #3 was tiny but now will end up the largest because the only female.

Hi everyone!
Yes, Marti, it is so interesting about the sex of the eaglets. But that is one of the things I love about watching them. :mihihi:
Now I am really looking forward to seeing the young one grow.
Did you watch the banding?

Yes I watched. I guess Nate is the dude with bared arms - brave with all the possible ways to get scratched. :luck: Marti

I was totally shocked to see #3 is female and #1 & #2 are males. Last year on Sauces there was lots of confusion with what was reported by chatters and how the bands were assigned. At one point, it was totally backwards but finally straightened out. Sure wish Dr. Sharpe would post a summary explaining his banding.

You're so very welcome Jwin. I'm very happy that the banding went so well. This is the first year I've watched this nest. It was interesting to me to see how low the nest really is. I couldn't stay to chat as I had dinner going and the video took awhile to process. I hope everyone has a happy eagle watching evening. :grhug:

I was reading the iws chat and they mentioned the banding sequence several times. orange on left= Lady( female) and quoted Dr. Sharpe saying males are always right so orange on right= male.
#1 A55 male
#2 A45 male
#3 A34 female
It will definitely be interesting to see how much #3 grows and if she starts to show dominance over her brothers
