Good morning, everyone! Thanks for starting our day, nightowl, and thanks for posting the weather and morning peek at the nest, Bev.

I didn't take notes this morning, but I have been watching most of the time since around 6 am, and it's been a fun morning to watch the nest. I'll do a quick review of the dvr.

I think Sur was on the nest when I started watching at 6 am - it seemed to me a little earlier than he usually takes over, but they may be adjusting to the longer days (or maybe I slept later - :%: ).

He seemed watchful and did some calling around 6:22 am, then stood up and called at 6:26 am.

I love this image of the chicks watching him.

Continuing review from dvr....

I thought Sur might fly off - but he settled back down with the chicks. He wasn't exactly brooding them, but was sheltering and providing extra warmth as they slept in front of him.
20190426_006.jpg

Around 6:58 he looked up and called, and Res arrived. Sur stood on the nest calling for a minute or so, and then Res joined in - my guess is that there was someone else around. Sur left around 7 am. I don't think Res brought food - didn't see anything, and she seemed to move to the food pile for leftovers before beginning a feeding. Both chicks lined up - and it looks to me as if SR2 is having a growth spurt! SR1's body is bigger, but their heads are looking fairly close in size and development, at least some of the time.
20190426_007.jpg

It looked as if younger SR2 was fed the first bites, then Mom Res focused on SR1 - but SR2 did not seem shy or timid about reaching over to grab a bite. After they had each had several bites, she appeared to be alternating between the two of them. The feeding ended at 7:06, and she settled to brood the chicks (though I think they were interested in more food - one of them reached up to check her beak while she was trying to get them settled).

continuing from the dvr....

Sur arrived - I think with a fish - at 7:20 am.
20190426_009.jpg

He seemed to nibble on a few scraps on the nest, then flew off. North cam was too pixelated for a good view. Ah-ha - once he flew off, there was no movement where he'd put the fish, and I'm pretty sure the arrow is pointing to a new fish.
20190426_010.jpg

Then Res flew off at 7:23, leaving the chicks alone. There are times I really do not understand these eagles - she didn't call or express alarm, and she'd had a break not long ago. Someone arrived at 7:32 am - my initial guess is Sur, but it's hard to tell in this lighting. And the North cam stopped pixelating around 7:36 am (perhaps Ken rebooted the server - or maybe it was magic) - and I see that it is Res on the nest.

She got up at 7:43 am, and SR1 bopped SR2 (only once), and then narrowly missed Mom Res with his poop shot (they're doing enough of them that I may switch to ps). I thought she might feed the new fish, but after looking at the food pile, she moved to the other side of the nest and called a couple of times - and then she went back to the food pile and grabbed the fish, while both eaglets watched intently.

Continuing from the dvr.... (if they don't stop being cute, I'll never catch up!)

We're up to about 7:50 am.

Little SR2 was sitting up initially while SR1 was lying down - so SR2 got more bites. SR1 pecked at him a few times, but he just moved his head out of reach and kept eating - it helps to be a bit bigger than he was yesterday!
20190426_012.jpg

I didn't get a picture - but SR2 almost sort of tried to self feed. I think he grabbed a piece of grass, rather than a piece of fish that had been dropped - but he went for something that wasn't actively being offered to him (and I have no clue about gender - I ran out of patience with typing him/her and I refuse to call them it!).

I tend to focus on SR2 because he was slipping behind for a little bit, though he's coming back nicely the last few days - but SR1 also got lots of bites.
20190426_013.jpg

I like it best when they are lined up and both getting bites - and here you can see that younger SR2 is developing the "scruffy elbows" which are really the heavier second layer of down coming in - and SR1 is showing more secondary down every day.
20190426_014.jpg

Feeding was over at 7:55 am, and it looks as if the fish is gone, so they both got quite a bit of food.

continuing from the dvr....

Res brooded/sat with the chicks until 8:42 am
20190426_015.jpg

She then got up and started a feeding - I think with more of the fish, based on the general shape. Plump little SR1 was up first.
20190426_016.jpg

And then SR2 joined the feeding.
20190426_017.jpg

Feeding ended around 8:48 am.

It's now 9:06 am. Res is brooding the chicks - and it's time for my lunch! How did I ever find time for a real job when there were eagles to watch??

It's now 11:55 am

I'm not going to go into details, but everything was pretty normal (at least one feeding with both fed) from my last post until around 11:21 am when Res called out and flew off.

The chicks have now been alone for more than half an hour. They've mostly dozed and preened in the nest cup area,

And an adult just landed at 11:58 am, as I was getting ready to log into the South cam to see if someone was perched over the nest.

12:01 pm
It's Sur who has arrived, and he's beginning to feed SR1.
20190426_018.jpg

SR2 has looked around a bit, but isn't up to join the feeding yet.
20190426_019.jpg

12:04 pm
SR2 is now facing the feeding but no bites yet.

12:06 pm
SR2 did a ps to lighten the load, then sat up - and got a bite.

I was doing some other things, but it appeared that the last half of the feeding was more balanced.

The feeding ended around 12:24 pm; some of the leftovers being fed didn't have a lot of meat, so it took longer than when there was a fresh fish on the menu.

My goodness - where did that BIG chick come from?
20190426_026.jpg

SR1 is 10 days old - and SR2 is 9 days old, and also growing fast.

Look at these BIG crops - wow!
20190426_027.jpg

Looking back, it looks as if Sur moved over to the food area around 2:10 pm; SR1 was up and SR2 was down when Sur stepped aside, and it's possible that SR1 had given the younger one a bop, but the littler one didn't seem intimidated. SR2 moved closer to the table at about 2:15 pm, and started getting fed at 2:23 pm (maybe some before that - skimming quickly through the dvr)
20190426_028.jpg

And then SR2 moved to the front for a private feeding, which lasted until shortly before the feeding was over, when SR1 moved forward for a few more bites.

I think SR1 has some blobs of food on his head and shoulder, on the left side. I'll try to take a look after the current snooze break.

Hard to tell what's going on from this angle (other than there are two sleepy chicks here).

Here's a closeup of a sleeping SR2 - again with a couple of splotches of something on him/her.

Not easy to get good images of wiggly chicks!

Here's SR1's left side
20190426_033.jpg

And here is sort of a look at the right side.
20190426_034.jpg

And I'm pretty sure that what he or she is "wearing" is something yucky but not harmful, like blood or fish guts.

Sur left the nest at 4:17 pm. Kids were alone for awhile. They slept most of the time. Res came in at 4:37 pm - didn't bring in any food. The chicks are getting hungry.
