The Arizona nest lost their egg to a ringtail Not sure what that is Only ringtail I know of is a pheasant and I didn't think they would fly that high. There is supposed to be a video, but I didn't look for it.

Love and hugs to all :offtobed:

Thanks for the rescue vid and the nest s'caps Iona. Great that it was fairly easy to put the unharmed eaglet back in the nest. :)
A ring-tailed cat would be the egg thief at the Arizona nest.

I hope Z's new meds are the solution Naoma. :)

Ouch! Hope your hand heals quickly Carolyn. :)
Nice to hear Bleu's meds are working.

Thanks Lynda....burn healing fairly well. I am treating it with a natural remdy from Alaska, it works and helps. Today was gorgeous in Texas, not as hot thankfully with a beautiful breeze. Even Bleu had a bounce in her step! Good days are always good to hear of....

Hi to all.....I too found the Channel Island video fascinating....lucky eaglet.
Good Night.

I searched for zoomed out pics of the Fraser Point nest to get a better idea of what was around it but didn't have any luck Naoma. :)
This is from wikipedia: "On the Channel Islands, where large trees are scarce, bald eagles have built nests on cliff faces, rock shelves and shallow cliffs, as well as in island pines and Torrey pines. One pair even attempted nesting in a grassland on Santa Cruz Island."

I'm happy you had a good day Lynda. :)

Hi everyone! If anyone can help with observations, especially for the next week or so, that would be great! Thanks!
Announcement
We are on hatch watch at two of our HWF cam nests, Surrey Reserve and Delta 2 - and we would love to have more people watching and posting observations there!

Surrey Reserve
Today is Day 36 for the first egg - this is our first year watching this nest, so we don't know when their first egg usually hatches, but eagle eggs usually hatch between 35 and 40 days, so we could see a pip (the initial hole in the shell) at any point.

Link to the cams - https://hancockwildlife.org/surrey-reserve-cams/

Link to our observation thread - viewtopic.php?f=114&t=333&start=2100

The female is named Res and the male is named Sur - for Surrey and Reserve; there are pictures to help you know who is who in the opening posts of the thread - but at this point we're most interested in pictures of the eggs, especially once a pip is confirmed.

Here is gemini's screenshot of Mom Res turning the eggs from yesterday:
Image

Delta 2
Today is Day 35 for the first egg; the Delta 2 pair often delays incubation of the first egg so both hatch within a day or so - so don't be surprised if the first egg doesn't hatch until Monday or Tuesday or even Wednesday.

Link to the cams - https://hancockwildlife.org/delta-2-cams/

Link to our observation thread - viewtopic.php?f=10&t=335

The parents are called Ma Delta and Trooper, and there are ID pictures in the opening posts. This is Trooper's first year at the nest - he's been great tending the eggs, and we're waiting to see his reaction when the eggs start peeping and demanding food!

Here is SueB's screenshot from yesterday of Ma with the eggs:

Please join us at one of these nests and help us document the action!

Nesties :grhug:  :coffee2: :tea: :sigh:

Happy Belated Birthday to Dr Rogers  :woohoo:

Sorry to hear about your burn Carolyn, they can be nasty so take care of it hope its healing with Elle's advice  :luck:

Elle :grhug:  :huggie:  :luck:

Gary :rh: was admitted to the Richmond BC Hospital yesterday as he had bumped his head several days ago in the shed getting stuff organized for a yard sale for Easter weekend and not telling me or getting it checked out and working 10 hours landscaping and painting, with just a smoke break (yes he's back to smoking about a week now) and no water he drinks coca cola and not eating because he has no appetite when he smokes, he ended up fainting or getting dizzy on the street where he was going for a walk to the garage to buy a scratch after work and ended up they took him to the closest Hospital which I found out is in Richmond so hes in there for concussion and dehydration. Last night they said he was sleeping and they wanted to keep him overnight to take some tests, he was in emergency, but after testing they said they were putting him in a room if he had concussion so I didn't go out there but was able to call him and talk to him and told him I'd be there today, very eerie its the first time in 20 years weve been apart and I slept alone, the last time was when I went to St Pauls Hospital downtown, for an Asthma attack to find out I had COPD :luck: Hope I can bring him home today :luck: and he's feeling better as I will find out his results when my DIL takes me out there today. :luck:

Off to Richmond just took out Einstein for his morning run which Gary always does at 6am everyday :gdog:

Have a nice day and Iona love your documenting all the eagle cams :vid: its a lot of work :eag: :hatch: :hatch: :eag: :grhug:

Naoma hope you and your family are well  :huggie:

Scott :grhug: Don't overwork like Gary stay stress free :%:

Judi, I too hope Gary is OK. Please take care of yourself too.

My burn is just fine with Elle and my husband's advice. Thanks for caring.

Lynda, so good to see you! And Scott too...It's a bizarre day here, now we have humongous winds, storm coming possibly. Earlier was sunny and humid. i betcha in ten minutes sun will be out again. We got tomato plants for the yeard, one of the things Bill wanted to do when he retired and he has done it. Our backyard is a plethora of roses blooming, wax leafed ligustrum, viburnum, lantana and other plants that look beautiful. Actually things will look better this time of year than summer since it gets so hot.

Pebbles is looking out the window at the little birds in the azlaeas...entertaining....take care all,

Hello friends,

& JuD,
I understand your stress & concern for Gary. I wish him well and do take of yourself so you can take care of him.

Carolyn, wicked weather on the loose. That spring storm system is massive. Burn care is important, glad it's better.

Iona. :thumlft:

Happy trails to PA bear mother & cub.

Pretty, but chilly morning with north wind here. Warmed nicely in the afternoon.

I've been soft wasing the house siding. Makes it look freshly painted now. You might be surprised at what humidy can do to surfaces over time.
Preparing to do the back porch. First I have to clean things out, of course. Also rearranging so as to store items. No shed but I'm figuring things out in containers to hide on the "out of sight" utility side of the back yard. :thumlft:

Anyone else seeing signs of spring?

Ok, & Good evening wishes, All. :bye 1:

Nice to see you keeping so busy Naoma. Are your cleaning up services for hire? :%:
I'm trying to make room for some of Mom's stuff that she can't take to her new place and that means cleaning up a bunch of my stuff. I gave away 400 vinyl albums today. I just need a bigger house. :mihihi:

Should of taken your vinyl records to Zulu on West 4th Ave in Vancouver Scott...… could of made a bundle as they pay for old records, Gary and I had a box of 50 or so when we cleaned out dads old records when we cleaned the house out 7 years ago and made a little over $200 they are still open as we go by them when we go down to Vanier Park to view the eagles :eag: :hatch: :hatch: :eag:

Heard that storm was massive and wicked with tornados everywhere especially Texas hope Carolyn and family are safe my friends :grhug: :holdon: :rain:

Hi Naoma so glad you moved to Florida not so many tornados just the odd hurricane every 20 years or so :huggie: :windy:

Painting me too Naoma painted the front door inside grey and added trimming around the front door outside which I painted white to match the door .....looking good fresh for Spring one day nice the next day rain  :rain: :sunny: grass is growing in good

good night all :offtobed:

Good morning & wishes for a good day.

Scott,
cleaning out is a tall order. I have a stack of albums, too. Also several musical electronics, some needing repair. It's hard to get rid of some "stuff". :) You are a good son. :)
Good to see the BBu back. :thumlft:

You couldn't afford my cleaning services. :D

JuD

Still fascinating about the eagle trio.
