Guardian will suit Liberty well,
as a couple of eagles spreading their wings,
over this area of love........

Great name! I love it....it's different and that to me makes it so much better.

Hi Carolyn!!! So good to hear from you!!! Glad you like that name for our new male! Liberty sure knows how to pick 'em!

Yes Phil, I think he will live up to that name quite well! :thumlft:

Here is a video that I took of Liberty & Guardian in one of their favorite perching spots, Redwood Roost...

Enjoy!!!

Summary of 2019 Season

Liberty and Spirit returned in early October, and began work on an old hawk's nest at the Riverview Golf Course in November. Everything seemed to be going normally for a couple of months - and then Spirit disappeared; he was last seen on January 26, with Liberty on the Christmas Tree. By February 11, Liberty was consistently being seen with a new male, who was eventually named Guardian. They did not nest, but were seen in their territory until early June. We are hoping for chicks next year.

2019-2020 Nesting Season
~
No pictures yet, but Friends of the Redding Eagles have announced that Roger from the Riverview Golf Course saw two adult eagles in a pine tree on the 5th fairway on September 25, and they both flew to Liberty's favorite oak tree across the river - and he was pretty sure one of them was Liberty and it's likely the other is her new mate Guardian.

:huggie: Hi Judy!

Thanks for getting things rolling for us!

Yes, our Redding Eagles have been spotted spending time in both Nesting locations so far this season! We have not received any reports of them starting a new nest down at Riverview yet! Last season they started working on the old red-tailed hawk's nest much sooner, in late October. So, if they are going to build down there it seems like they would need to get started pretty soon!

Meanwhile, I have seen Liberty & Guardian in the Turtle Bay Nesting location the last 3 days! Liberty brought a fish into the nest to eat yesterday & again today! Guardian finished off the fish yesterday so he has been seen in the Turtle Bay Nest too!

They have both been on the Christmas Tree together several times the last few days too!

Today, Guardian was on Liberty's Island and yesterday he spent some time in the Family Tree! So, he seems to be getting comfortable in some of Liberty's favorite perching spots in the TB nesting territory!

Hi Marg & All!

We continue to see our Redding Eagles spending time near & working on their old nest at Turtle Bay!!!!

They have been nesting down at Riverview Golf Course for the past 4 years, so this would be the first year they came back to the Turtle Bay Nest!(Except in 2017 when they lost their nest & eggs at RV & Liberty laid a 2nd Clutch in her old nest at Turtle Bay. Only one egg hatched & that was our sweet Solo R.I.P. who died from extreme dehydration on June 25, 2017)

I have to say it has been absolutely wonderful seeing Liberty & Guardian in the old stomping grounds!

I found Guardian on the new Dead Tree this morning & was able to capture his beautiful lift off!

:D I am so happy to report that I am able to post my photos here again!!! It had been saying they were too large & it required an additional step for me to post them here so I wasn't posting much lately :(

Here are a few of our lovebirds perched on top of the Christmas Tree the other day in the rain...

They were getting a little cheeky up there! Guardian was biting Liberty's beak & the look in their eyes tells it all!
