I don't know which decorah nest I was watching but the eagle was turning and adjusting themself and almost did a back flip the wind was so strong. I can see that nest with a eagle getting blown off or an egg if they are not laying right with the wind. Poor eagle just stay tight with the wind don't let it blow you head over talons.

And doesn't the trio's nest river look quite high. Much flooding.

Last night I put my dog and my cat in their respective crates in a safe spot in case of tornado. Put my purse in a safe spot near me with my cell phone. But the tornadoes hit north of me instead. Such nasty weather this winter.

Or should I say talons over head. If that eagle moves could go flipping up again. Landing on the egg hard. No incubation exchange in that wind.

Smart they did a nest exchange when the large wind gust let up. Then the incoming eagle came in from a good direction. Timing is everything in the wind gusts.

Thank you, laniebelle for the above link. There is really good information on how eagles survive in harsh weather.
I too have experienced some severe weather similar to eagleslanding and feel much better about my local eagles and their nest.
In fact I have another photo that I will post later. :)

Yesterday, we had Wind Warnings. Strong winds but no storms.
The tornadoes went south of us to Paducah KY area.
I wondered how Mere & Pere's nest would be and had to go by and check on it today.
Good Eagle News!
Can you see her white head?

Philjo, sorry to hear about Pappa the owl. I hope he pulls through.

Glad you all liked the RRP links. John and Amy are both so knowledgeable; I always enjoy listening to them.

Eagleslanding, I have seen the wind really push eagles' tail feathers way up. I think it's a struggle sometimes to keep their balance and not be pushed around too much by the wind. Smart to crate your pets, just in case. Glad the tornado didn't get your area; stay safe.

Sunnybird, glad to hear that Mere and Pere are doing well!

Isn't it great to see E12 and E13 doing so well with their flights and landings! I love seeing them hanging out by each other in the different trees that they are flying to. It seems that these two are the closest, best buddies that I've ever seen in this nest;any thoughts on that?

Hi, Pascale

I'm so excited for you that you were able to return to the nest this year! Are you still in the area? I hope you might be able to share some of your impressions (photos, too) of being "live, on the scene". What a terrific experience to meet Vicki O, too. I'm so happy for you!
