a smile from Norway. right before dark a Male juvie landed on a branch in the nest tree- dads branch. baroness was in the nest bowl and baron on the low branch. they both alerted... but finally let him stay.

Re: EAGLE Chatters Nest
Thanks for the photos from Smola, Pascale. Wouldn't that be neat if Solo dropped in for a visit? I am so grateful to you for introducing us to Smola; I so enjoy that cam and eagle family, very similar but a little different from our Bald Eagles!

With all the ice warnings and sub zero temps and blizzards and snow in the upper Midwest and the Great Lakes. The eagles are having a terrible time of it but this eagle had a good outcome. Someone saw him and he was saved thanks to a drone escorting him to a safe place for rescue. Just google on youtube "iced eagle rescue on Lake Michigan". Did not realize this could happen. Sorry don't think we are supposed to post videos here. I usually do not post pictures here any how. Not real great at it. It is a good thing someone was observant enough to realize this was a distressed eagle and not a eagle just resting. 'Iced eagle rescue on Lake Michigan.'

Hi everyone, I just watched this video from yesterday and I don’t see it posted here. Harriet fell to the ground carrying moss! It is a scary thought

Another ice dilemma, this one on lake erie. This is also one of the great lakes this borders New York state.
Google 'ice tsunami lake erie'. Ice piling up on one of the great lakes shore up to 30 feet high. Piling into even shore houses going up the side of houses or roads. Creating an emergency, even evacuations. So much ice chunks washing ashore. Very unusual. Google 'ice tsunami lake erie'. This just happened.

Nestfriend it took a while for Harriet to get herself intact after that fall. Very scary but she pulled out of it ok. Thanks.

Re: EAGLE Chatters Nest
"congratulations" to Berry and wildlife organisation who left b12 die in terrible conditions even if they were aware of what was happening yesterday already.
I'm beyond sadness. something could have been done.
in 2017 when Honor from DC nest had her leg caught in rails she was rescued by AEF by night. she was brought back to the nest the day after and fledged a month later.
something could have been done. and wasn't done.
So much sadness for b12 and b13 babies

Re: EAGLE Chatters Nest
Thank you Phillipe and Pascale for your comments regarding b12 not receiving help.
I know little about this situation, however I totally agree with your comments and feelings about this.
I believe that some people, including some of the SWFEC mods, mis-interprete the provision of their Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act, and use it to justify non-intervention (and thus suffering).
However, the Cornell Law School page (https://www.law.cornell.edu/cfr/text/50/21.31) states that a person does NOT need a permit to transport an animal protected by this law to a rehab facility, which is the opposite to what many of these people appear to state.
I consider it immoral to knowingly allow an animal to suffer when resources are available to help that animal.
Yes, I agree that a cost/benefit assessment must be undertaken before intervention is undertaken to ensure that a positive outcome is achieved, but I suspect that frequently those responsible quickly disregard intervention because it is easier than trying to help.
I so hope that attitudes regarding this change sooner rather than later.
