Thank you so much Phil!!! :huggie:

Here is a video that I took of Liberty & Spirit on the Christmas Tree yesterday morning!

I recommend that you turn down your volume because it is very noisy on the Highway 44 Bridge!

From JudyB:
ANNOUNCEMENT
Hi everyone! We've done some work on the forum over the last couple of days which unfortunately made it harder for some people to log in and stay logged in. We think we've found and fixed the problem, but it may require folks to delete their browser cookies in order to log in.

We're still working on this, but have instructions for deleting cookies for several popular browsers here - viewtopic.php?f=2&t=13&p=148341#p148341 - and you can probably find the method for other browsers on the internet - and we hope to add more tomorrow.

If you have any additional suggestions or would be willing to write instructions for one of the other browsers, please let me know!

We are sorry for the inconvenience, but the work we've done will keep the forum more stable and hopefully more accessible.

I hope you guys have been able to work out all of the kinks in the system!
Thanks for all you do to keep our forum & all HWF forums up & running!!! :woohoo:

Sorry I have been so out of touch for a bit! I have had some eagle sightings over the past few weeks & just haven't posted them here!

I had one of those Magical Days on Saturday January 26th where everything lined up just perfectly!!!! The lighting was fantastic & both Liberty & Spirit made an appearance on the Christmas Tree & down on a gravel bar by the River!!!!

Liberty was up there by herself when I first arrived around 9:30 am...

Hi Phil!!! So glad you enjoyed the videos! Yes we do have a wonderful eagle family here alright!!!

I went down to Riverview to check on our eagles a few Mondays ago because the Golf Course has hired a new Company to take over the Grounds. Rick the Supervisor I went through to gain access on the Course on Mondays is no longer working there. Roger let me know & advised I come down just in case the New Managers weren't as eagle friendly!

Here are some photos of their new Nest Tree & nest. I have to say I don't have a great feeling about this new nest because it is in another Gray Pine Tree & that is the same type of tree their nest was in last year when a branch broke off & it fell to the ground with River & Sky in it!

Sorry but it won't allow me to upload any photos here? I will talk to JudyB & see what's going on?
Here is the error code I am getting? I've never seen this one before?

If you haven't deleted your forum cookies lately, Terri, that could be the problem. I'd suggest you start by using the Delete Cookies link at the bottom of the page, then close the browser window. You'll need to log in again after that, but with luck that will solve the problem. If not, I'll be happy to do a bit more troubleshooting with you.

Redding Eagle Update:

I have some upsetting news to share with you today...

I checked on our Redding Eagles this morning at Riverview Golf Course & it appears that our Miss Liberty has taken on a new mate. I wish I had answers for you, but I just don't know what has happened to her beautiful mate Mr. Spirit?!?

What I can tell you is that I believe she is currently with the same sub adult eagle that I saw sitting in the same tree with Liberty a few Mondays ago at Riverview! I also believe this was the same eagle that was with her when I was doing the Bird Walk with the kids a few Fridays ago & we saw it over on a tall, skinny Cypress Tree next to the Christmas Tree where Liberty was perched. I have never seen Spirit, or any of our eagles land on that particular tree, so I've been wondering about this for a few weeks now?

I didn't have my camera with me that day and I never really got a clear look at that eagle that day because he landed behind some branches. He flew over & mated with Liberty on Dead Tree so without seeing it well, it seemed like it must have been Spirit?!? Liberty wouldn't mate with another eagle, right?!?

Well, this morning I saw Liberty & this new sub adult eagle in the nest together & then mating on nearby trees twice while I was there! So, that indicates that Liberty has accepted this new male as her mate?

Now, as with Patriot, it is possible that Spirit was run off by this sub adult male & is not able to reclaim his nesting territory or his mate due to illness or lack of strength? It is also a possibility that he has died somehow, but there have been no reports of a dead adult eagle found in the area? (There is always a chance in the wild that the body might not be seen or recovered :(

I keep telling myself that after following these eagles for so many years that we all know in our minds that this stuff can happen & that this is just nature & we have absolutely no control over it...

But, as we experienced with the loss of Patriot in 2013 & Solo in 2017, knowing that in our minds does not lessen the feelings that we have for our Redding Eagles in our hearts...

I will keep you posted on anything I find out about Spirit...
~Terri

 What a sad news, Terri, :huggie:
is it recent ? as you say in february 05 that Spririt joined Liberty as she called to him.
i'm not a specialist but for me it's true if Spirit is around, liberty won't mate with a new one
Another question is it Liberty ?

Another thing i read before about another nest,
viewtopic.php?f=44&t=341
Last season at Big Bear nest,
Mrs and Mr BB had two eaglets
3/23/18: One of chicks (Baby Big Bear) died overnight, most likely of hypothermia resulting from soaking rains followed by near freezing temperatures.
3/28/18: Stormy was banded and dead chick was removed from nest.
The second one fledged and leave the nest area to another part of the Lake, i was said after Mrs BB was seen with a subadult, that Mr BB (may be traumatised by the death of the first eaglet and/or the banding process, human presence in his nest ...) left also the area and was seen at the other part of the lake with his son Stormy. Now Mrs BB and Shadow the sub adult are still together at the nest...

another question, what about the reaction of Spirit and the big fires you had in the area last summer ?

with you for the best Terri :huggie: and :luck:

Thank you Phil, it has happened very recently so I'm still processing this...

The last time I saw Spirit was on January 26th and those photos I posted with him & Liberty on the Christmas Tree were from that date. I wasn't able to post them until Feb. 5th so that made it confusing! So sorry!

I'm still not able to post my photos here JudyB? I'm getting that same error message & I did delete my cookies & logged in again?

Hi, Eaglewoman, when this happened to me I had to delete my browsing history. :dunno: I use Firefox. It cleared up the problem.

Thanks so much jwin, I'll give that a try!

I got word from Roger this morning that Liberty & her new mate's nest came down in the record-breaking snowstorm we had here in Redding on Tuesday night! We got 7 inches of snow at my house, but some areas of Redding received up to a foot of snow! The snow here in our area is very wet & heavy, so we tend to lose a lot of trees(especially ones that don't lose their leaves like Live Oaks). Sadly, the weight of this much wet, heavy snow on Liberty's nest was too much & it fell to the ground... :(

Roger wasn't working yesterday or today but he got word from one of the other workers who saw the nest on the fairway this morning. Charles did report that 2 adult eagles were in the area & seemed fine! So, that was good news!!! :thumlft:

Roger might go in tomorrow so he will try to get some photos for us! I going to see if I can go down there to check things out if the golf course is still closed tomorrow due to all of the tree damage from the snowstorm! I will let you know what I see!

I will also be keeping a close eye on their old nest at Turtle Bay because Liberty is due to lay egg(s) any day now so there isn't much time to start building a new nest from scratch!

Please keep our Redding Eagles in your thoughts as they endure this latest challenge!
Thank you HWF Family!
