8:13 am - all done and he moves over to the other side of the nest, perched on one of those large branches, with very snowy feet

8:21 am - both eagles were vocalizing and I can see why...looks like a young eagle flying towards the nest tree and they go over top of it.

I suggest Trooper is seeing animals floundering in the traps and takes the opportunity to grab them, trap and all. This second trap was covered in snow when he brought the duck in with it. I doubt he would have noticed the trap, altho certainly the struggling duck. (I will have to learn how to quote the message I'm replying to.)
Could this be the reason we are seeing Trooper and Ma bringing in so many ducks versus other food?
Sandy.........there is a bountiful supply of ducks in the area right now just sitting down there on the ground.................our eagles will bring in anything that is easy to get. Fish is not, especially with frozen water around.

10:03am.......... Good morning Delta2 friends! Thank you Philippe and Sue for your posts! As you have seen there was a dump of snow since late yesterday.............a lot of it. And it isn't over yet. Another one is coming in later today so side roads are not good although main roads are hopefully ok.

Due to the extra work that the snow has brought..........I may not be able to be here much today. Please post if you are watching. Thanks.

10:08am..........Regarding the 2 rat traps in the nest.........have heard back from Gemini (Sharon)............here is part of that email..................general opinion is to not worry.

When I spoke to David he didn’t seem too concerned about this kind of rat-trap because the trap had already been sprung and he said this is not the kind of trap in which poison is used. If he was concerned with the eagles getting caught in one, I believe he would have said something. I can only think he feels it’s likely that they would only go after “prey” caught in it, in which case the trap would have already been sprung and would impose no danger to them. David is always thinking of the eagles safety and I can’t imagine he hadn’t already thought of that and dismissed it as a possibility.

9:02 am - from the rollback - looks like Trooper left the nest at this time...he appeared to be heading towards the evergreens.

10:08 am - not sure if this is just the sunlight reflecting off the snow but boy is it bright at the nest....no one has been back to the nest at this point
