Re: Royal Roads Eagles, Colwood BC - 2018/2019 Season
I was at Esquimalt Lagoon today and spotted an adult eagle perched at the top of a tree a short distance below the nest
These photos were all taken from the lagoon. What I saw from there with my naked eye was a white dot. My lens was extended as far as it would go and the photos are cropped.
The nest tree.
The eagle spreading a wing.

Good to see Kay!

Thanks Marg.
I went to Esquimalt Lagoon today and the nest site but didn't see or hear the eagles anywhere
I like to take photos of the nests I visit as the season progresses.

I went to Esquimalt Lagoon today and saw both eagles. They were soaring high over the lagoon then circled lower and landed in separate trees by the bridge end of the lagoon. One was still there when I left so I stopped to get a few closer photos which I will post later.

When I returned from the far end of the lagoon one eagle had flown off and the 2nd eagle was perched in a tree close to the road near the bridge. I took these photos from the small parking area just across the bridge.

I went to Esquimalt Lagoon today on my way home from Goldstream Park. Both eagles were perched in a tree near their nest tree. On my way back from the other end of the lagoon I saw one of the eagles perched in a tree across the lagoon near Hatley Castle. I'll post a few photos later.

A couple of photos of the eagles yesterday. Not the best lighting; too many dark clouds in the area.
This first one was near their nest tree.
This one was on the other side of the lagoon near Hatley Castle.

I was at Esq. Lagoon today and saw one of the eagles perched in the same tree as in my above post. I didn't stop to take a photo because I was on my way to see the brown pelican. It looked like there was some new greenery in the nest; I'll post a photo later.

Re: Royal Roads Eagles, Colwood BC - 2018/2019 Season
I spent some time at Esquimalt Lagoon yesterday. From the road in we saw an adult eagle perched in a tree near the entrance to Fort Rodd Hill. We saw both eagles soaring around the area of the nest which looks like it hasn't been fixed up. The eagles flew over the nest tree then landed in a nearby tree. One of them flew off over the ocean and returned a short time later, chasing an immature. The adult landed in a tree near the bridge and the immature flew past the nest area and towards Hatley Castle. It was a very dark sky, threatening to snow so the photos aren't good quality.
