Thanks for posting the photo of the Downy Woodpecker! I'm pretty sure that's what I have coming to my suet feeder. I went to the Cornell site to try and identify it and came up with either a Red-bellied Woodpecker or a Downy. It's a small one...only about 4-5 inches long and that red on it's head is a vibrant red. About 15 feet from my patio is a huge Oak tree and I noticed the other day there's 2 holes in it about 12 feet up and I don't remember them being there during the summer. I've never seen one going in or out, but I'm pretty sure it's the woodpecker's "home".mmud wrote: ↑Sun Jan 06, 2019 8:15 pmThe hummer wouldn't stay still long enough for a pic but I did manage to get pics of a few critters as I sat watching from the couch. A male Downy Woodpecker, Eurasian Collared-Doves in the pear tree, some Juncos, and a squirrel visiting the deck were a few. The squirrel pic was later when the sun had disappeared so it's grainier.
