gretchen_AEF (Admin): We are waiting for Juliet to return to the nest. She spent Sunday night at the nest and did much of the incubating. She left after dawn and returned briefly yesterday around 10am during chat. A vocal was heard this morning around 6:30am close by. Romeo was sleeping. It was likely Juliet. This is common behavior for the female eagle when there have been intruders and an encounter as they have experienced. We will update as activity occurs.

tweetie_AEF (Moderator): Good Tuesday afternoon, faithful Hamlet viewers! Romeo hopped up to Lookout Point at 12:07 and perched for a few minutes, surveyed the area, and flew off at 12:10, and after a short break, he returned at 12:14, and resumed incubation. He is doing a fantastic job caring for the eggs while Juliet is on a break, no doubt protecting the Hamlet! Romeo is up at 12:19, fluffing moss and rolling eggs once more, then settles back onto the nest.

View of the precious eggs Keeping good thoughts the Juliet is alright and praying she will come to the nest soon...
Dec 18, 3:34 PM
tweetie_AEF (Moderator): Romeo flew off at 2:11, after checking out the area again, and was seen soaring by ground crew with another mature eagle, but they did not seem to be in a combative mode, and from that distance, it could not be confirmed if it was Juliet. There has been vocals this afternoon from crows, hawks, and another eagle. Our ground crew will continue to monitor and report further details and/or photos a bit later!

gretchen_AEF (Admin): While checking the area and the Hamlet, I caught an eagle flying close to the nest tree and landed. This eagle apparently was perched low on the nest tree prior and could be seen from the cam. It appeared large (female?). I don't know if Romeo was aware the eagle was there. I didn't hear vocals. Later Romeo flew (post above at 2:34pm) and was then soaring for sometime with another eagle. By the length of the wings, it appeared to be female. They almost locked talons a few times as eagles do during courtship and didn't appear combative. They exchanged friendly vocals in air. There was no way to know if the eagle was Juliet at that distance. They flew off out of sight. When Romeo returned to the nest at 2:53pm, there was a mature eagle soaring around the nest. I don't know if that was the same one he was soaring with and followed him back. Then the eagle was out of sight and there's no way to know if it was the same eagle that was perched or Juliet: https://flic.kr/p/2aTcifC
