This site is for pictures and information about eagles and wildlife in the Chilliwack area and all are welcome to post their pictures and observations here.
The City of Chilliwack, British Columbia is a community of approximately 90,000 + people, located 100 kilometers east of the City of Vancouver in the beautiful Fraser Valley.
These are 4 of the nests I originally monitored in 2010. Unfortunately all are now gone. 3 were lost in winter storms and one was removed by the land owner.
This tree was also a favorite spot to check as each winter there were always lots of eagles here. Unfortuntely it was removed by the land owner January 13, 2010.
There are still many nests in the area but none give me the closer views my original ones did. I still get out checking them when I can, just not nearly as often as I was previously able to.

It's been a long time since I've been able to get out and see some eagles but the day finally arrived.
A beautiful day at the Fraser Valley Bald Eagle Festival. A little windy and most of the eagles were on the far side of the river but there were enough on this side to get a few pics.
My first stop was Sandpiper Golf Course around 9 am in the area the Harrison Mills eagle cam looks over. I could hear eagles calling out but couldn't see many. A couple flew by and a few more were perched in the trees.

Next I headed to the Observation Deck. There were a few on the river's edge.
A fish flopped around close to this one but it didn't bother grabbing it.

There were quite a few eagles spread out on the far sand bars visible from here.
This youngster had a salmon in it's talon which was too heavy for it to fly off with.

Heading back to the parking lot there were several eagles perched near the walkway.

Only one eagle in the area posing for anyone walking by the salmon spawning pond. You could see many more on the sand bars and on the other side of the river.

This immature eagle flew over carrying part of a fish.
I could see (and hear) the Fraser River Safari boat David was on as it went by. They would have a great view of all the eagles on that side of the river.

O.W.L. had their table set up and Rob and Sonsie were there along with a Barn Owl and it's handler.
I went to a very interesting presentation on bats who inhabit the south coast of B.C. then had a nice visit with Marg before David's always educational and amusing talk about the eagles. It was a pretty good day. Joined HWF: Sun. Apr 12, 2009
