I had a lovely walk on the new floating walkway over Swan Lake the other day. There weren't many birds or ducks around but I did manage to capture a few photos of a pair of Green-winged Teal ducks and some female American Wigeons.

I spent some time at Fleming Beach in Esquimalt on Oct. 12th, watching a pair of Mute Swans that hang out there. They were foraging in the kelp bed when all of a sudden one of them flew out its wings and flapped away closer to the beach. Then a head came up out of the water and I realized an otter had scared the swan

I wasn't quick enough with my little camera to get a decent photo of the otter but managed to get it's back before it disappeared.
A while later it came up onto a log beside the dock but by the time I noticed it and focused my lens it was diving into the water. All I got was its tail
Saw this little Northern Flicker on a pole on Plaskett Place in Esquimalt.

I visited Goldstream Park on Nov. 6th. I saw one American Dipper with
a salmon egg in its beak near the edge of the river bank.
There were quite a few eagles of all ages perched in the trees along the river.
I think there is at least 12 or more eagles in this photo. There will be a lot more
gathering there in the next month.
