SW Florida Eagle Cam - 2017/18

Kitcat - The cams started broadcasting on Oct 1 last year. Last I heard, that is the plan for this year.
Once the cams have all be inspected, installed and tested...it will be show time!

I am not sure what the plan for cam 3 is . Like the banner says on the Pritchett's website: "Cam 3 has been setup and is now live. As we get ready for Season 7 this stream will be on/off with limited PTZ".
I do know that after a bad thunderstorm (some weeks back) it was decided to remove the cam housing unit to protect if from further storms and possibly damaging it. It's better to be safe than sorry during their stormy season with these expensive cams!

In the mean time (just like last year) Vicki visits the nest to offer us views of H&M starting to get their nest ready for another anticipated season...and she posts her videos here for all of us to enjoy!

Just a couple more weeks and Season 7 will begin!

Thanks Journi for the info; I know they don’t want to take any chances with those expensive cameras and it is definitely the peak of hurricane season. And many thanks to Vicki for her devotion and visits to this nest keeping us up-to-date on Harriet and M.

9/19/18 - M15 sees a perfect stick in one of the front pine trees and gets ready to take off from the nest tree...
Harriet watches the action!

M15 lands in that front pine tree and shows us how limber he is by grabbing a stick that's below him! (Red dots = perfect stick!)

M15 then delivers this perfect stick to his nest! Great job M15!

9/19/18 - Nice mid-flight stick adjustment to both feet by M15!

M15 lifts off from the ground with one foot/talons grasping his stick...

He looks down in mid-flight to get his other foot/talons to grasp the stick...

With both feet/talons firmly holding his stick now, he continues flying to deliver it to his nest!

Thanks Sunnybird and, yes, that was I. I’m just trying to get Vicki’s permission to use scaps from her videos for my little project. A large share of H&M’s nest renovations take place before the SWFEC cams come online, and Vicki’s videos are such a great source of scaps to record their progress.

As long as you give her and the video credit you can use scaps from her videos

Cam Installation Day_H & M Watch, Add Sticks & Bond 09-21-18

Harriet and M15 were in the old cam tree snag when I got there at 6 AM. They both left the pasture fairly early and then each returned with a stick. There was bonding under the guise of mating, along with Harriet’s famous side kick. They both watched closely as the camera installers drove in and then checked the pasture before driving in. Harriet vocalized a warning and both she and M15 flew to a tree in the west pasture to observe the installation. At one point both H & M flew over and around the nest tree area reminding the workers that it was their nest. At 11 AM, I left after Harriet flew across the road to observe from there and M15 went to the church tree to observe. The cams were still being installed when I left.

Thank you to all who got that downward view of the nest to us - with all the new sticks being added I have been wondering how it was looking.

I assume that H and M have not added anything to the inner nest area yet, but I cannot see E11’s log.
Does anyone know if it has been removed?

I can't see E11's log in this Cam 1 test cam scap, but it could be hidden under some of the new sticks that H&M have added!
H&M have been in their nest many times and E11's log may have been knocked around the nest somewhere...?
But...Harriet could be a very clean nest-keeper and kicked it over the edge!...? (She does have that strong right side kick!)
We will have to keep looking for it after Cam1 get's LIVE!

Good afternoon! Watched the news link on the red tide- very informative. Hope that this can be controlled and protect all the wildlife. Thankful for all of wskrnwings videos and all the photographers keeping us up to date on Harriet and M15. The nest is getting bigger every day and I know that E11's log is in there somewhere. H & M Continue Adding Sicks Plus H Adds Some In The 'Alternate' Nest 09-25-18

Harriet added the first stick this am when she arrived, shortly after M15 flew into the nest tree. Both adults added sticks and nest material for two hours. Harriet also added sticks to the west pasture tree that has sticks in it from last month. When I left at 9:30am, they were both perched above the nest, preening and watching their territory.
