Harriet & M15 visit their nest tree this morning...
M15 is above Harriet. Well, this is a large and interesting stick recently brought to the nest! Wonder which one chose this stick!
Maybe M15 is trying out a new kind of security system...? A heron perches on the Cam 2 tree in the nest pasture Scaps captured by Journi from wskrsnwings video:

Today was a great day to visit the nest.

Harriet & M15 Deliver Big Sticks At Sunrise 09-17-18
Harriet and M15 spent the night in the nest tree pasture, H in the nest tree and M in the OCT (old cam tree). Both added sticks to the nest at sunrise before flying south and out of sight. M grabbed a large stick from a front pine and had to circle the nest tree twice to get enough height and angle to get the stick to the nest. H grabbed a stick from the nest tree and then a much larger stick from a west pasture tree to add to the nest. Harriet also flushed a hawk from the nearby cam 2 tree.

Re: SW Florida Eagle Cam - 2017/18
Love the shot of H&M in the nest together. And the trip with the big stick to the nest. Why can't I remember the usual time period for them to work on their nest. Does it usually start in September? Anyone know? Or remember?

Re: SW Florida Eagle Cam - 2017/18
Thanks journi. For some reason working gets in the way of watching the nest. I didn't watch e9 till March then 10 and 11 were overwritten by the missing of e9 on here. But work takes up alot of my time. And I do not save or chronicle anything on the SWFL birds. So previous seasons definitely get blurry. I do read books on the eagle to study more about them. But yes with work I am not as faithful to this site as I would like to be. I do love Vicki's video updates. That one picture of H&M in the nest together was the best. Think I would have to study them for many years to feel confident in answering the deep technical questions I have of the eagle. And there is much missing like no video of M catching a fish for his family. Where is M's favorite hang out to catch a fish. More about the world of the male as he goes off each day for his family. The male eagle is much a mystery as the cam focuses over and over on the nest. M could be in a struggle for food and we would never know. Would love a cam at M's fishing hole area. My niece is there in Florida for her job till November. And my aunt is coming back from Florida for the summer. She lives very close to their nest. I am sure she has seen them fly over her house. My niece says it is extremely hot and humid in Florida right now.
Nice to know H&M are busy working at their job. What is strange is it is hurricane season down there. And well I remember their rebuilding their nest after was it Irma. Tree looked sparse then. Would like side by side of now and then. Very durable tree and nest.

Re: SW Florida Eagle Cam - 2017/18
Journi, your comparison scaps of the nest tree area in Sept. 2017 and Sept. 2018 are interesting. The Cam #2 tree seems to have lost a tremendous amount of foliage in the one year interval. Yet another home pasture snag tree in the making?
Re: SW Florida Eagle Cam - 2017/18
Hi armistead I did notice that the Cam #2 tree seems to have lost a lot of foliage! There could have been some sort of damage to it's root system during the hurricane last year...?
By the way it looks one year later, we very well could be seeing another snag tree in the making.
It will interesting to see what Cam 2 tree will look like next year!

Is there any word on when the cams will be turned on, at least cam 3? It sure would be great to watch H & M do all their remodeling.

I visited the nest early this morning.

H & M Show Their Amazing Skills Gathering Branches For The Nest 09-19-18
Today's video has great views of Harriet and M15 flying at and grabbing branches in a tree, transferring the stick, while flying, from beak to feet and eyeing the nest in flight for the best entry while they are gathering sticks for the nest today. I am always amazed to see their ability to do all this with only beaks and feet.
